After the National Athem, Tam Vuong led the audience in the Pledge of Allegiance, Kayla Reinhardt sang The Lord's Prayer , and Dr. Robert Alost welcomed the audience of parents, relatives, friends, and faculty. Members of the graduating class who were selected through auditions gave their addresses as follows: Maureen Mercadel, Excellence in Education 5 Ra- chal Carner, A Community of Scholars g Susie Ro- senthal, A Commencement of Hope . Tamela Brantley and Stephen Speights accompanied by La- vonya Malveaux led the graduating class in singing Whatever We imagine by james Ingram. Our guest speaker, Respresentative jimmy Long, delivered his message to the senior class. Then, the moment was at hand. Not wanting to leave Dr. Alost emptyhand- ed, the seniors exchanged butterscotch lifesafers tied with blue yarn for their long awaited diploma covers. After Dr. Alost's farewell address, Jason McCrory gave the benediction followed by a vocal performance of The Lord Bless You and Keep You by Craig Escude. By the end of the hour and a half long cermony, almost every graduate had made ap- propriate use of the blue or yellow Kleenix so thoughtfully hidden in their programs. Caps flew into the air before the class unceremoniously filed out of the Coliseum. The ceremony was followed by a reception in the high school building. g The graduating seniors, anxiously and g tearfully, await the distribution of their ' diploma covers. +15 L' - A f A vf--' - fi .U si my Wg Q- .1 ,,--i..,. fqyf v,.A A I
