Tower of Learning Louisiana ' s tallest educational building, the 16- story Charles Samuel Wvlv Tower of Learning, is under way al Louisiana Tech Universit . Ground was broken on Ma 22, 1970, for ilie structure, which is scheduled for completion in November, 1972. It will contain numerous classrooms, lil rar facilities, ad- ministration offices, a computer center, space for continuing education programs and a lounge for drive-in students. The l)uilding is being erected adjacent to Prescott Library. Lomax Hall and the old A. E. Phillips L;tbo- ratory School building were torn down to make room for the Tower and jiarking space. Other than federal and stale fun(l . inoiiiN to fi- nance the Tower has come from private sources, such as donations bv Sam Wyly and his brother, Charles Jr., of Dallas, and the Heiirv E. and Quintin T. Hardtner families of Urania. The building has been named the Charles Samuel Wvlv Tower of Learning in tribute to the memorv of the grandfather of the WvK brothers, who contrib- uted subslantialK to the buildinj ' fund.
