BUSINESS ADMINISTRATION AND ECONOMICS The School offers the degrees of Bachelor of Arts in Economics, Bachelor of Science in Business Administration, and Bachelor of Accounting. The Bachelor of Ac¬ counting degree can be taken as a graduate degree by students who have received a B.S. in Business Administration. This plan calls for one additional year of formal education and six months intern¬ ship in a C.P.A. or industrial firm. Two students of stenography prac¬ tice shorthand. Tech ' s first graduate received his degree in 1897 from the Depart¬ ment of Commerce which has pro¬ gressed steadily through the years and in 1941 became the School of Business Administration and Eco¬ nomics. 28

SCHOOL OF Six major fields of specializa¬ tion are included in the curriculum of the Louisiana Tech School of Home Economics. Students gradu¬ ating with major work in child de¬ velopment, clothing art, commer¬ cial home economics, and home¬ making receive a degree of bach¬ elor of arts in home economics. Louisiana Tech was one of the first schools in the South to offer courses in Home Economics. It is now the only Louisiana college and one of the few in the South to have a School of Home Econom¬ ics division. 30
