Dear Tech Students, Although the ominous clouds of war hang heavy over the world, my message to you is one of hope and faith — hope that a world-wide holocaust can and will be averted and faith that regardless of the turn of events our way of life may be perpetuated. To those who have joined the colors in this conflict, to those who will be called to active duty this year, and to those of you who may be privileged to remain on the campus until graduation, I send a message of good cheer and best wishes for a job well done. May the lessons learned in the classrooms and laboratories and the inspiration received from mingling with teachers and students alike on the old Tech campus serve as beacon lights to guide all of you wherever you go or whatever your tasks may be. My observation of life on the Tech campus this year leads me to the definite conclusion that we have demonstrated in the fullest sense the unity, the service, and the action so vitally needed in the conduct of affairs among the freedom loving peoples of the world today. Let us continue to exercise this philosophy in the years that lie ahead.
