Our secretaries keep the school running smoothly. Pictured above are 1-r Melody DeWeese and Julie Strode. Pat Sluhan, not pictured, took over for Melody when she went on maternity leave. We couldn’t have done without them. 13

I remember what it was like to be new here. The place seemed so much bigger — longer halls, more classrooms, and hundreds of faces just staring me down. I never admitted it, but it seemed so much scarier then. The faces, all so different and all so unfamiliar. I only hoped to get a smile from one. Was that too much to ask? For a while, I wondered how I could ever fit into such a strange, super-sophisticated world, but now I wonder what I was so worried about. The confidence came, and so did the fun! What an assortment of unforgettable people I’ve met here. There were classmates I liked right from the beginning, and there were those I came to like when I got to know them better. There were teachers I really liked, and teachers I survived. There were upperclassmen, celebrities, who awed me with their many talents and styles, and lower classmen, innocents, who appeared to stand in awe of me. But most of all, there are good friends I’ve made here, and all the great times we shared. There were great times when we won together, and sad times when we lost together, but we always pulled through, and that’s what counts most. We made it through so much: starting over as freshmen, being in the middle as sophomores, pulling together for prom as juniors, and counting the days as seniors. Looking back. I’m amazed that so many crazy and wonderful things could have happened to me. How can you ever say thank you for so many great memores? It won’t be easy to say goodbye to this school and to all of my friends, but I have so much more to learn, not only about the world, but about myself, too. It’s time to get started, I think. I only know that wherever I go and whatever I do, the days I have spent here will always be a special part of my life ... a time to remember. 14
