Initiates, The National Honor Society was first organized by the Louisiana School system in 1961. The membership enrollment for that year totaled twelve. The 1967 enrollment totals twenty-seven. not pictured, S. Rosenburg, A. Thomas, D. Hunt, J. Trower, D. Waddell, H. Cook, S. Griffith, M. King, D. Schraer, G. Wookward. National Honor Society is based on four principles: Character, Scholarship, Leadership, and Service. Members are chosen by their achievements in these categories. 52 STUDENT COUNCIL STUDENT COUNCIL MEMBERS: Mrs. E. Morrow, sponsor, J. Kritz, P. Noxero, G. Hemphill, S. Ambro, P. Littrell, S. Bandy, K. Swenson, M. Gierke, L. Holtsman, E. Webb, G. Perkins, C. Cunningham, B. Rege, A. Benning, D. Strode, A. Abel, D. Hunt. The 1966-67 LHS Student Council had a successful and busy year. The council sponsored Homecoming, co-sponsored the Senior-Faculty Basketball game, and once again worked to raise money for a foreign exchange student. The biggest council project was the revision of the constitution. By the way, most of the funny-looking people selling tickets or candy at basketball or football games were council members— sometimes it's hard to tell. 53 HIGHLIGHTS STAFF Mrs. Griffith, Sponsor, J.
