A SUPERINTENDENT’S MESSAGE Dear Students: On December 1, 1965, I began working here as your superintendent. Your good work and cooperation has made this one of the most stimulating and rewarding jobs I have ever had. Early in life I came to realize that the greatest happiness is found in working or performing as close as possible to the top level of one's capacity. I hope this idea can become a part of your own philosophy. Also, I wish to share with you this little gem of literature and philosophy by Philip James Bailey: We live in deeds, not years; in thoughts, not breaths; In feelings, not in figures on a dial. We should count time by heart-throbs He most lives Who thinks most—feels the noblest —acts the best. Sincerely, 4

and present, of Louisiana High School. service to the students and faculty, past in recognition for his years of work and ALAMO to We, the staff, dedicate the 1966 DEDICATION James A. Woolcott TO THE STUDENTS AND FACULTY OF LOUISIANA: During the years of our association I have gained great respect for the educational team in Louisiana. A team composed of fine students, teachers and parents such as yours is a rather unbeatable combination. However, in this age of possible annihilation of individual freedom may I, in leaving, remind you that continuous progress in your educational program is a must! Teachers and students must shoulder the burden of protecting and furthering the progress of the individual. I am indeed grateful for my time in Louisiana and am very proud of the record of students and staff. I sincerely hope that I will have the opportunity of continuing our friendship in the years to come. 6
