amor History On the f1rst day of school the members of the Jun1or Class of 1957 58 proudly strutted across the threshold of L H S , wantxng everyone to know that they were now upperclassmen About a week later the class had 1ts f1rst class meetmg and elected offlcers as follows Jack Dryden Presxdent Wanda Br1dwell, V1ce Pres1dent Janet Garner Secretary Peggy Calhoun, Treasurer and Jane Foland Student Counc1l R e p r e s e nt a t 1 v e Peggy Calhoun was chosen V1ce Pres1dent of the Student Body The Jun1or members on the football team were Kenneth Stark, T1m Maddern LeRoy Berry Bobby Anderson, Jack Dryden, W1ll1am Morr1s, Jon Wh.1te1s, Frank Wallace, and R1chard W Turner Jane Foland and Wanda Br1dwell escorted by T1m Maddern and Jack Dryden were attendants to the Homecommg Queen Wanda Br1dwell escorted by Bobby G1llett, was Barnwarm1ng attendant P e ggy C a l ho un was chosen a s t he Jun1or cheerleader and Pat Penn1ngton was elected alternate Kenneth Stark and Kenneth Lame served as ass1stant e dxto r s of the ALAMO, and Peggy Calhoun served as Juruor sect1on ed1tor Jon Wh1te1s was elected Ed1tor 1n Ch1ef of the L H S H1ghl1ghts and Jane Foland served as ass1stant ed1tor W he n the boys moved from the football f1e1d to the basketball court the A Team had two Jun1ors Kenneth Stark and Bobby Anderson The Jun1or boys of the B Teamwere Kenneth Lame LeRoy Berry, W1ll1am Morr1s, B111 Smtton and R1chard W Turner Two Juruor g1rls played A Team basketball These were Janet Garner and Peg Calhoun Wanda B r1dwell represented L H S as cand1date for Basketball Queen at the Bowl1ng Green Tournament She won and was crowned T1m Maddern w a s chosen as attendant to the Valent1ne K1ng and was escorted by Wanda Br1dwell Our track team th1s year was one of the best L H S has had 1n some t1me and lt also had 1ts share of Jun1ors These were Kenneth Stark Bobby Anderson, LeRoy Berry, W1ll1am MOIIIS, R1chard W Turner Jon Wh1tC1S Frank Wallace and Jack Heller On May 8 the class pre s ente d the Jun1or Play It was ent1tled L1ttle Women and was taken from Lou1sa M Alcott's book Mrs Pat O'Conner d1rected the play On May 17 the annual Jun1or Senxor Banquet and Prom were presented W1th the theme of Sta1rway to the Stars the affa1r was a complete success The Jun1o r class members energet1cally entered 1nto the var1ous orgamzatwns at L H S and contrlbuted much to the success of each Also the Jumors took the1r share of awards and honors Our sxncere thanks go to M1ss Jame s and Mr Hemph1ll, whose t1reless efforts gulded us through a successful year MISSOUT1 Ed1son . . , .. . QICIJAS, OU 1188 Mr Rlchard E Bla1s was the gu1dance counselor for the l957 58 school year In add1t1on to g1v1ng tests, he spent hours 1n student counsehng, and also taught three c1v1cs classes a day Durlng the year Mr Blals gave the Kuder Preference Test, the Oh1o Psycho1og1cal Test the Cal1forn1a Mental Matur1ty Test a Student Scholarsh1p Qual1fy1ng Test and the Aclneverrlent Tests Many of these tests he scored hxrnself Mr. Bla1s set up and conducted a College Day for Jun1ors and Sen1ors wh1ch was attended by several schools. He also 1nterv1ewed the Sen1ors of L. H. S. 1n reference to the1r future plans. Th1s year Mr. Bla1s had three student assxstants dur1ng the day 1n h1s Off1C6. They were Delores Skelton, .hm Wood, and Myra Rottman. We w1sh to congratulate Mr. Blals on the f1ne Job he d1d th1s year.
