FUN OFF CAMPUS Year Round At Laurel Mill Built prior to 1849, Laurel Mill was one of the first cotton spinning plants in N.C. By the early seventies, the mill looked like a worn-out relic of the past. In 1972, Wil- liann Holmes and his wife Margaret re- turned to his native Franklin County. They undertook rejuvenation of the mill as a retirement hobby. Today, the mill is in operation grinding wheat and corn for local farmers. Located on Sandy Creek in Franklin County, Lau- rel Mill attracts picnickers, rowboaters, swimmers and sightseers year around. It is a favorite get-away place for Louis- burg College students, who find the wide expanses of grass and the Mill and creek a wonderful place to relax with friends and enjoy the out-of-doors. Enjoying sunning on the rocks at Laurel Mill. two Louisburg students have found a nice place to get away. How ' s this for a lit? Frolicking at the Will, Sally Coleman looks as if she ' s been on a crash diet. Robin Thomas helps her take in her belt. 12 STUDENT LIFE

CULTURAL ARTS Between the Concert Series, the Cine- ma Arts Series, the Louisburg College Student Government Association and the Franklin County Arts Council, cultural arts are a big deal in Louisburg. This year, the Concert Series alone ot- tered the Glenn Miller Orchestra, the Westminister Choir, the Riverboat Rag- time Revue, international pianist Robert Guralnik presenting Chopin Lives, and tinally the Big Band Calvacade. This is not to mention the art shows, photography exhibitions, films and nu- merous other events that make Louisburg a very artsy place to be. Touch, the mime trio of the Art School, is composed of Shelia Kerrigan of New York, Jef of Cleveland, and Ed Damron of Sumter. S-C This IS a beach scene; fill m the blanks! When the whole body becomes a face What can you do about the horrors of the evening news? Especially when it all seems so real. The frustration level is too great to be brought down by a glimmer of rare good news. Live or no, there is one thing that can be done. Turn the darn thing off. 14 STUDENT LIFE
