Merritt Merrill houses a quite diversified group of girls. Mam ot the female athletes live here; basketball and volleyball players. Then there are the preps and the fun-lovers. Of course in any dorm ou can find a wide variety of people. Once this year Merritt played a game called The Room-mate Game, fashioned after The Newlywed Game. It ' s ama ing how much you can learn about a person after living with them a lew short months. Some people were shocked that their roommates had learned so much about them. All in all, it was a lot of fun, .is many girls decided that they wouldn ' t want to trade roommates and that Merritt really is ,1 ni e plai e to live. Merritt 23

Main Main building has a few dorm rooms in it. (Not many stu- dents can say that they live in a historic site). Main dwellers are in the middle of Davis and Franklin dorms, and they seem to hang around with some of those guys. Main build- ing was opened in 1857 as Louisburg Female College and is the oldest brick building on campus. 22 Main

Patten Patten dorm has gained the reputation of being the Big House for the Big Boys . Almost everyone is familiar with Patten ' s nightly get-togethers on 2nd floor. Patten seems to have a unique sense of brotherhood and friendship be- tween its inhabitants. Since there are a lot of baseball play- ers living in Patten, they show great sportsmanship in their many contests with the Franklin II Zoo. Patten seems to win these all the time. Hillman may have a mellow bunch, but Patten is always wide-open. After visiting Patten, I sensed a feeling of comradeship and pride for their dorm.
