Fourteen games were victories while six had been lost. The only team to hand Louisburg two defeats was E. M. I. On February 15 the boys left Louisburg for the tournament with hopeful expectations but no assured confidence of bringing the cham- pionship home. The first game they played resulted in a victory over P. J. C. The Hurricanes scored victories, one by one. Finally the b:g night came, and they were to face E. M. I. in the final play-off. After four quarters of hard fighting, team cooperation and good ball-playing paid off. The Purple Hurricanes and their coach, Bill Ariail, received the trophy as the winners of the 1956-57 North Carolina Junior College Championship. In addition, Doug Chalk was selected as the most valuable player in the tournament. Sports We Honor The mothers of students attending Louisburg College.
