Loudon College was estabhshed 1n 1870 by The Cumberland Church on land that was g1ven by Mr Thomas J Mason For a number of years It was a pr1vate school In 1909 th1s bu1ld1ng was sold to Loudon County to be used as a publ1c school for both grammar and h1gh school pup1ls In 1919 because of crowded cond1t1ons a new bu1ld1ng was erected m West End and the Loudon Schools were moved 1nto lt Wlthln afew years the school enrollmentmcreased so much that even the new bu1ld1ng became too small for both schools con sequently the old 'Loudon College was remodeled and some rooms added and the I-hgh School was moved back to The H1ll 1n 1934 In 1939 under the able leadersh1p of Mr Sam W1lson C1ty Comm1ss1oner of Schools four modern classrooms and a gym was constructed and thatdepartment very lmportant to our farm boys was added In 1952 53 another add1t1on wh1ch 1ncludes a mus1c room scmencelaboratory and f1ve class rooms was made In the fall of 1953 the seventh and exghth grades moved 1nto thxs w1ng As we look over the names of our alunm1 we feel that we can be very proud of the records that many of them have made and are makmg Our w1sh 1S that Loudon Hxgh wxll contlnue to grow unt1l we have other needed bulldmgs and a wxder curr1culum and that all alumm may be able to smg wlth fervor OUR ALMA MATER Loudon I-l1gh School How I love thee Alma Mater I-la1l' Red and Wh1te wave hlgh above thee Through the calm and gale Long thy sons have sung thy praxses And thy name adore Wh1le our hearts 1ts Juba ra1ses Loudon Hlgh forever more 2 . . , . .
