Oddly enough all of the boys in our class started going to Jane Lew for their dates. Incidentally, they always took a posse along to protect them from the Jane Lew boys. We received another new member into our class, Mary Ann Scalise, who left us us from Flemington High School and we lost a member, Dorsey Shaver, who left us to take a position with his father in the band. when we entered our Sophomore year, we discovered many new faces who had come to us from Mount Clare. Amoung these were Patricia Dixon, Mildred Bond, Betty Bragg Dencie Greaver, Loretta Harris, Jean Hartzell, Anna Hindman, Erma Cottrill, Robert Carr, Carter Crawford, Jack Roush, Frank Shearer, Royce Thompson, Alfred Trevison, and Patsy Wash. This was another year which we enjoyed to the fullest. we sponsored two class Parties-the first being held at Laurel Park and the second, a skating party at Roanoke, chaperoned by Mr. Howard Post, our Advisor. L. . : O Q 9 0 O . . b 9 HISTORY continued County Contest at Clarksburg and first in the State Contest at Jackson's Mill Dale Dodd also won at Jackson's Mill The F they also held a new kind Banquet but this year was in our class partic1pated first place on his third year Vo Ag record book F A went to Kansas City for the first time and a Father on Many students elected one of for the girls' of banquet It had formerly been changed to a Parent Son Banquet ln this event Joanne Boyles was the high school cheerleaders th1s year When the time came class tournaments, every member of our team but one Clucky Midge? had the three day measles Oh, by the way we were defeated The girls had the privilege of joining the High School Gl e Club th1s wonderful year Joanne Boyles was selected Alto Soloist andEileen Ireland as Soprano Soloist Those numerous blology contracts to Mr Post were both nerve racking and amusing, Cas so many of us rememberl Home room was also interesting to us, CRemember girls?D Under Mr Post's patient guidance we gave two very successful chapel programs When we came to school as juniors we missed several old faces We elected the following class officers President Wayne Lewis, Vice President, Anne Lee Jennings, Secretary, Winnie Pos , Treasurer Martha Randolph We worked feverishly selllng Christmas cards and sta ionery in order to sponsor our most successful Junior Senior Banquet at the Lost Creek Clubrooms and the school gymnasium, under the sponsorship of Miss Margaret Gregory, our class advisor The decorations were breath taking and the music of Heinie Hammel was divine and Oh' what lovely dresses 1 Eileen Ireland and Joanne Boyles sang a number with the orchestra by the request of the graduating senlors The F F A went to Kansas City again the National Contest we gave two chapel programs and sponsored two dances at the gymnasium Lost Creek High School suffered the loss of one of its basketball stars, James Harrison and also another member of our class, Jack Riffle, one of the biggest eaters that ever patronized the lunchroom W concluded our Junior activities by giving Miss Gregory a farewell party with the senior class When Miss Gregory left for the University of Kentucky for her Master's Degree, she was replaced by Mrs Farrell from Clarksburg Wayne Lewis was honored this year with his State Farmer's Degree and Winnie Post with her State Homemaker's Degree Anne Lee Jennings and Winnie Post were elected high school cheerleaders this year In September, as seniors, we entered school with a new dignity We elected the following officers President Martha Ann Randolph, Vice President, Royce Thompson, Secretary, Ei een Ireland, Treasurer, Peggy Fogg When Royce Thompson left school he was replaced in office by Bernard Layne We regret the loss of four of our students: Anna Hindman Royce Thompson, William Wagner, and Patricia Dixon during the term but were glad to have Anna Hindman join us again during the latter part of the year we received a new member from Pennsylvania, Ruby Taylor, this year The F F A team took the State Contest in Judging and placed third at the Atlantic Rural Exposition The following seniors took part in the Dramatic Club play UG1rl Shyn Charles Brown, Winnie Post, Martha Ann Randolph, Joanne Boyles, Wayne Lewis, Carter Crawford, and Royce Thompson The first chapel program of the year was given by the seniors and it fell upon us to give the last one also which was equally as successful as the first During this year we held a Thanksgiving Dance and a class Party at Roanoke We sponsored a show starring 'Laurel and Hardy ' Our biggest job, however, was editing UMemories,n our yearbook Winnie Post was elected the Editor in chief Eileen Ireland was elected the girl with the best personality and Martha Ann Randolph as the most courteous girl in the Popularity Contest held by the juniors The most popular boy and girl were crowned at a joint dance held by the Juniors Seniors late in the term Eileen Ireland went to Morgantown to sing in the voice contest to compete for a scholarship at West Virginia University She following seniors participated in the Band Festival held at Salem during the previous years Eileen Ireland, Mildred Ocheltree, Winnie Post, Joanne Boyles, and Donald Dawson Members of our class who were honored during this year were this year.
