Many memories pass hefore us as we think hack over these four years, The memories of our Freshman year and one of the most successful parties we've held. Of our Sophomore year which was also highly success- ful. As upper classmen, in our Iunior year, when we won the Saratoga Relay, interclass debates, Ir-Sr Baseball Championship, and presented the play, THE VVHOLE TOWN'S TALKING. Then in this grand Senior year, with the play, THE HOUSE WITHOUT A KEY, the party, the relay. and finally Commencement: we have completed a wonderful four years at Los Gatos. In our Senior year we strived to leave school a little hetter than we had found it. This we did through the many activities we entered into. The Class of AU wishes to thank the Faculty and Students for making our four years here at Los Gatos something to he remembered always. We will always he proud to say that we came from Los Gatos High. A I A as n e to eithusiasmf' s state ent certainly fits the Iunior Class this year. For instance, the e ' r Pl , EVER SINCE EVE. was one of the best in recent years. The uniors also showed an abundance of enthusiasm in supporting our war '- effort. Many of the Iunior boys willingly contributed their cars, gas, and rub- A ber to collect scrap iron which we all know is so badly needed for the war effort. Incidentally, the Iuniors won the contest by collecting over ten tons of metal. The boys who so enthusiastically helped to win this contest are to be congratulated, also the girls who went along to keep their morale high. We are proud of the members of our class who are now fighting for Uncle Sam in numerous branches ot the service. All the success the Iuniors have enjoyed this year has been due to their enthusiasm, and you can count on that enthusiasm being stronger in our Senior year. me onc said Every worthwhile achievement in the history of man th n PETE RAPCOCK X 'Za . , :':g', K Q. ., 'Q : p. Fl'u'.isiui'i-i' Because of the prominent place they took in sports and in school activities this year, the Sophomores earned a very high reputation as a second year group. To start the year off right, the class of 'A45 was the first class to have a party which was Linder the theme of UG:-my Ninetiesn, and through the hard work of the committees and the uniqueness of the decorations, it turned out to be an immense success. The Dramatic Club, French Club, Spanish Club, and the C. S .F. contained in their respective enrollments a large percentage of Sophomores. The debate team, which consisted of some promising debaters, was barely edged out by the Iuniors for the school champion- ship. Also, they took an active part in the field of sports, and showed some very prospective talent which ought to help Mr. Helm build great teams in the future. FORENSICS Because of the war, Los Gatos did not participate in inter-school debates this year. lnterest in debating was stimulated, however, by intra-mural debates between the four classes of the school. The Iunior affirmative team was the winner of these intrafmural debates. Also, Dorothy Gelatt won the regional State prize in the Native Sons of the Golden West oratorical contest. Much of the success of the speakers and debaters is due to Dr. Bruntz, the debate coach. 37 MUSIC. CLUB First row' V. liul-tcr, V. Tuigtlnn, l'. Tmgtlcn. L. l.mw. H li fit-l.tti. IUNIOR RED CROSS Although it was only formed last year, the Los Gatos Chapter of the Iunior Red Cross is one of the most active clubs in school. Its work is now doubly important because of the war. The members worked very hard this year on projects which aid the armed forces. They made Scrapbooks for the wounded soldiers. The President, Kathleen Gwen, really did a fine job in leading the club this year, aided by Secretary H. B. The Club also gave a very interesting assembly in March, on planning and planting of a Victory Garden. The Club was led in its duties by Presi- dent Bill Vowles and Secretary. Dave Teeple. CUSTODIANS The general appearance of our school depends a great deal upon the Cus- todians. These are the people who keep our halls and campus looking clean and neat. This year, especially, they have done a great deal in helping to give the impression one gets by seeing a well-kept and clean school. A special vote of thanks comes from the Student Body to the Custodians who have done such a fine job. -I5 na i ,ir ,ws ll IUNIOR PLAY This your the lunior class chose us Ilicir play.
