It also means your first Homecoming Where you learn more about spirit than you ever have. School: what memories we'll have! The strenu- ous exercises iu P.E. where you feel like a rubber band at the end of the period, those great lunches when you can get together to share a bag of fries or a Pepsi, the nfarewells between classes, great rallies where you can really let yourself go and get into the spirit, and those super foot- ball games. Ah yes, we'Ve got a lot to be thankful for: our free- spirited school. v-'xftw' GCLIS 0 GASTELG LEFT: Operator! This is a familiar word to Mr. Gastelo being operator of many school activi- ties. But it will never be our final destination. e are all searching for a way to set our Spirits free, and we find ourselves looking to solve great mysteries the future may hold. ln one way or another, we long to join in the endless of the Seagull--to join in the peace he finds as he flies. Our minds can be the wings that us to the freedom we long for. With our freedom, we find new beginnings--a new r, a new life and, for the El Pacheco staff, a new yearbook. As we come to the close of year, we can look back on all of the events and happenings that mean 1978. could forget the exciting football victory over Dos Palos? Thirteen was certainly an un- number for Dos Palos. The Broncos left Los Banos blue for thirteen long years, and celebrated the victory. of blue, 1978 was the year of the blue slips. They were the big hassle you had to go when you were absent. We would often forget to pick them up in the morning and got a when we went to first period. By the end of the day, the blue slips were usually so torn wrinkled that no one could read them anyway. year, the bump was the biggest craze in dancing. At least that way two of your tires could make it through afely. e teachers, friends, rallies and many memories will be with us forever. High school is our carefree years of our lives that many of us will treasure. Some have worked and worried so others could enjoy rallies, assemblies and yearbooks. It is unfortimate that for some peo- le, high school has just passed them by. However, high school is no more or no less than hat you make it. The future? Frightening as it may seem, we will all go different ways. Some of us will go to college, some of us will get married, and others will go right to work. But all of us will someday be able to look back and tell stories of our high school years, the sneaky things we attempted, and be able to say l went to Los Banos High. The yearbook staff is one proud group of girls. The pictures on the left are some typical scenes in the life of the El Pacheco staff. This yearbook endeda long year of day and night meetings, long picture schedules and so much sacrificing. On our last deadline date, March 20, the staff let out a big sigh of relief. The pressures, the good times, and the hours of work were at last completed. The whole thing starts all over again on March 21st when the planning for the 1979 yearbook is started. Although it was one grueling year, we, the staff, made the 1978 yearbook happen. When the staff walked into room 5, it was like a Pentagon staff meeting with everyone sworn to secrecy. Debbie, our editor, and Mr. Hendricks, our advisor, planned out the day's events along with the endless list of things to do before a deadline. Many times, the metal cabinet was an escape place for members wanting to avoid their everyday duties. janie, our typist, and Ramona, our business manager, often hid out just to get the attention of Mr. Hendricks.
