It has been a year filled wit excitement and fun. We have tried to recreate and bring alive again the memories that will come to mind each time we open the 1959 El Pacheco. Turn the page and follow the kittens as they unravel our ball of yarn. 5 M51 we A f Dedication The 1959 El Pacheco staff takes singular pleasure in dedicating this year book to you, Mrs. Virginia Loftin. Your spirit of magnanimity and devotedness to duty have impressed us during the past year. Your unshaken qualities of high standards and kindness have been a great influence on all of us. For your justice and patient good humor we sin- cerely thank you. There were many meetings with state officials and the school architects for the purpose of drawing up a proposed master plan for a new high school. The young, green Tigers rose to the traditional occasion and came off the field with a tie, which was the first time in some years that the Tigers have come that close to winning the Big One. Individual honors going to Varsity players in- cluded the naming of David Bonillas to the All League First Team, with second string places go- ing to Iud Davidson, Francis Ragghianti, and Eddie Gomes. Frank Sigarroa and Larry Toscano received honorable mention. Francis Ragghianti and David Bonillas were named to the All Cen- tral California First Team. .W mm Xb: 'z :QB-41 . Q Q. Our traditional rivals, Dos Palos, won by a Q score of 19-0. N 2 The league season started with a 6-6 tie with Escalon. In the next league game with Patterson, one of the most spectacular plays of our season occurred. when Roy Cornelius on an off-tackle play raced 92 yards to a touchdown. The Banbees won this contest 18-7. The Ceres game was by far the best ballgame played by the Banbees. They outplayed the Bullpups in every department except the score, which ended l2-7 in favor of Ceres. The Banbees won the Livingston contest by a score of 12-0 in a game marked by the runback of a pass interception by Daniel Paradiso for about 68 yards. In the final league game against Sonora, the Banbees went down to defeat 45-6. All in all the season was a good one. Terrific defensive play was the trademark of the team, and they finished the season with the best defensive record in the league. Practice wins were scored over Dos Palos, Merced, Gustine, and Newman. The season record was 12 wins and 9 losses. First row, left to right: D. Paradiso, D. Bonillas, D. Criswell, L. Toscano. Basketball The onl senior on the team was Don Colbert, who was high scorer for the season with, 217 points. Best rebounder was Tom DeGregori, with 206 rebounds Although we were the smallest team in the league in height, we outplayed and outrebounded most every other team. The squad included one senior, three juniors five sophomores, and nine freshmen.
