The group publishes an annual maga- zine, Manuscript, which is a showcase for the outstanding writing of Valley students. This year the Writers' Club's Second Annual Book Collector's Bazaar and Auction raised over S750 for the club's regular scholarship fund which supports outstanding Valley writers in their literary education. The club has brought numerous outstanding authors to club meetings as speakers. This year saw Eugene Vale, au- thor of The Thirteenth Apostle, speak on his writing philosophies. Opportunity is given for members to compare material and to submit original compositions for discussion. Carol Hinkle, George Nagel, Helen Silverstein, Alice Ersponer, Lucy Fillepine, Ben Pakler, Doris Curtis, lrene Zenan. lBack Rowl Marlene Wallen, Sylvan Bernstein lsponsorl , Miriam Greenblatt and Kay Manice. BAZAAR BOUND-lrene Hummer and Rochelle Marks help sponsor Sylvan Bernstein pack books for the Writers' Club Book Bazaar. Supplementing the various business courses with an ac- tive schedule of speakers and field trips has been the an- nual aim of the Valley Asso- ciated Business Students. Through participation in so- cial and lecture meetings, members of VABS gain insight into the business world-its potentials, goals, and re- quirements-as well as an understanding of what is es- sential for success. This year's schedule for VABS has in- cluded a number of field trips and guests. Among their many activities, the club produced and sponsored a fashion show at Valley. The women of Los Angeles Valley College are united in their interests in athletics by the Women's Athletic As- sociation. Formed in 1952, the club has for eight years been involved in the promotion of sports activities among women students with empha- sis placed on good sportsmanship and the advancement of the spirit of cooperation and fine competition.
