The season record stood at 9-14 with two weeks to play. In the CCAA a a race the Black and Gold were mired in the cellar with a 0-7 mark. The outstanding players for Coach Hank Ennen included Horace Consolo, Len Rosen, Fred Oken, Jim Cratty and Don Cohn. A shortage of pitchers was the main problem as the hitting was al- ways good enough to win most ball games. Football Coach Bud Adams and his football team may have Finished the year with a dismal 3-6 record but two of those three wins were big ones. Pomona- Claremont and Whittier, two of the top small college teams in the nation, fell before the inspired Devils. A 33-0 pasting admiinistered -by larger Brigham Young University opened the season for the Adamsmen. Then Pornona-Claremont brought a twelve game winning streak to Snyder Field and went home without it as the Devils took their measure 20-13. The Sagehens were not to lose another game during the season. Les Huf- ford and Manny Alvarez sparked the offensive attack. Hufford went 95 yards for a TD after intercepting a pass on his own five yard line. Occidental bounced back after the Staters had taken a 7-0 lead and trimmed the visitors 16-7. Other losses were to Nevada 1,3-12, Terminal Island, 14-0, Pepperdine 6-0, and Santa Barbara lil-7. The LaVerne Leopards were the grid team's number two victim 19-2. A had pass from center gave the Leopards their only points and spoiled the home team's best chance for a shutout. The biggest win was the victory over Whittier which had enjoyed a per- fect season until the Pomona-iClaremont team had tripped them up a week before by one point, When the dust had cleared the scoreboard showed 20 for the victorious Devils and 6 for the favored Poets. For three quarters the Poets nursed a 6-0 lead but the final period found the winners chalking up their 20 points to score their second upset of the year. The sorority was organizccil for the promotion of social activities and the participation ol' women in student body functions at State College. Cliaraeter, personalilty, scholarship, and support of campus activities are the basis for thc selection of its members. Regular weekly meetings are held on Monday evenings, and there are many social events for the mem- hers throughout the year. Behind the soisority, there is a strong alumna association and the two groups often get together for special nieetings and social afTai1's. A scholarship fund was established hy the alumna for the lirst time this fall. Some of the activities of the past year included a Surprise Sunday morning breakfast, a Halloween party given by the new pledges, a pledge project of mak- ing dolls for the Childrens Hospital, a ski party, ex- changes with the social fraternities, and an annual Christmas party.
