i ADM N ISTRATIO .vw- ' i -+., W , We have never ceased to pray for you and to entreat that you may be filled with a clear knowledge of His will ac- companied by thorough wisdom and discernment in spiritual thingsg so that your lives may be worthy of the Lord and perfectly pleasing to Him, while you bear fruit in every good work, and in- crease in the knowledge of God. Since His power is so glorious, may you be strengthened with strength of every kind . . . Colossians 1:9-11. We of the faculty and staff unite in this prayer for you, the students of Los Angeles Pacific College and High School. These buildings, such as the new Lawrence E. Lingren Memorial Hall Cleftj, are but monuments to a futile effort unless you discover here a faith and concomitant courage to do God's will for your lives. The most important construction L. A. Pacific will ever undertake will not be on the campus, but in the home and communities where you will prayerfully live and work to instill the Christian ideals of your alma mater into the structure of a better world. President Cox

In Blonubriztnl With the passing of Mr. Lawrence E. Lingren, Los Angeles Pacific College has lost a staunch and loyal alum- nus, the students have lost a kind benefactor, and the Board of Trustees, a generous and resourceful member. Lawrence E. Lingren was a disciple of Jesus Christ. He believed his Master when He said, He that findeth his life shall lose it, and he that loseth his life for my sake shall find it. ln recognition of this Christian prin- ciple Mr. Lingren literally gave his life for the church. He had a special interest in Christian Education. As graduates of Los Angeles Pacific College, he and his wife, Dorothy, saw to it that their children, Wesley and Marlene, had the same opportunity. It is difficult to know where to begin to relate what Lawrence Lingren meant to Los Angeles Pacific College. So many things that he did are not on any earthly record. So often he requested that his assistance remain unmentioned. We can only name a few of the many ways in which he gave of himself. Mr. Lingren built the Panther Den, the student center. It was to have been a very modest building, but Mr. Lingren felt that the students and Christian Education deserved the best. He personally contributed the Oriental Ash paneling and the marble fireplace which have lifted the decor of that building out of the ordinary. He was on the building committee for the Science Hall. He was a regular contributor to Living Endowment. He came on the Board of Trustees in March of 1957. The high esteem in which he was held by the other trus- tees is evidenced by the fact that he was made a member of the Executive Committee of the Board. During the last few months Mr. Lingren had a vision for the school that became a compelling force in his life. He attended committee meetings and board meetings when he should have been in bed. But this was the Lord's work, it had to go on, and he had to do his part. In recognition of Mr. Lingren's service to our school the Board of Trustees has adopted a resolution that the new high school building, which was being constructed under his direction and is now nearing completion, be named in his honor as the LAWRENCE E. LINGREN MEMORIAL HALL. The place he won in the hearts of all who knew him will not soon be filled. CExcerpts from tributes by Dr. Robert J. Cox, President, Los Angeles Pacific College, and Mr. Henry Smidderks, President, Board of Trustees, Los Angeles Pacific College - February 5, 1960.5
