OMEGA CHI SIGMA Omega Chi Sigma, the only sorority on the campus, is the latest addition to the family of organizations at the l.os Angeles College. Formally organized in November of 1946, nine of the original twelve members now serve on the Supreme Council. The first formal initiation was held in the Hollywood Roosevelt's Aviation Room on De- cember 7, I946, and since then the Alpha Alpha Chapter has welcomed a new group of neo- phytes into the fold. The chapter has a traditional Hell Week and a Hell Night, much like that of its male counterpart, the fraternity. Their objectives as stated by the iaws ofthe sorority are to gain international recognition in all recognized chiropractic colleges, to encourage fellowship and social welfare, to present an educational program which will develop higher standards of education and ethics among women doctors, and encourage closer cooperation among all mem- bers of the profession. lt is 'the desire of the members of the sorority to establish alumni chapters in order that they may continue their activities upon entering their professional careers.

p AMERICAN LEGloN RALPH W. STEWART POST No. 636 OFFICERS The Ralph W. Stewart American Legion Post No. 636 was organized in January 1946, and was named after the first chiropractor to lose his life in World War ll. lt is with particular pride that this post commemorates this clean-cut American lad who was exemplary of chiropractic tradition, ideals and practice. . The first commander of the post was Dr. Thomas G. Kirby, formerly an instructor at the Los Angeles College of Chiropractic. The primary purpose of the American Legion as a whole is, of course, to keep alive and active the ideals and spirit of Amerlcanism. The Ralph W. Stewart Post now numbering 120 members is composed of those ex-service men and women who are chiropractic students or licensed doctors. lt is rightly called a specialty post, for lt has a spe- cial lnterestf namely, that of furthering chiropractic, through education, social and athletic func- tions. Special classes have been, and are being, conducted by members of the chiropractic profes- slon who give unselfishly of their time, knowlede and experience. The Legion Auxiliary has been organized, the purpose of which ls to create and maintain a soclal interest among the members of the post. The post also sponsors the care of underprivi- leged children who would not otherwise receive chiropractic care.
