SENIOR HISTORY S THIS year l937 IS the last that the SSHIOT Class w1ll spend Vf1ll'111'1 the portals of C G H S 1t IS only f1tt1ng that we should pause for a few moments to remlnrsce on the hrghhghts of our happy four years We recall those days early 1n l933 when 1n new unrforrns and brrght blue t1es we proudly walked through the halls of our school After our enjoyable 1n1t1at1on reverently and t1m1dly we worshrpped the Sen1ors from a drstance longlng for that day when we too mlght possess the1r hlgh degree of knowledge and d1gn1ty lt was 1n thls memorable year that we had the prlvllege of readlng the f1rst 1ssue of our school paper Campus Rumors Also ln l933 the P T A wh1ch has s1nce been such a standby 1n the school s soclal act1v1t1es was organrzed We galned honor by w1nn1ng the second place 1n the T1d1ngs Drrve Mary Kathryn Auerbach a Sen1or then made us doubly proud of our school by rece1v1ng flrst place ln the Oratorlcal Contest Throughout our frrst year we as Freshmen enyoyed the ch1d1ng cf the Sen1ors and as Iuly l4 drew near we sorrowfully bade them goodbye The return from an enjoyable vacat1on found us Sophomores no longer wtth that shy feellng but w1th outstretched arms eager to ard the lncomlng class to keep the rules of the school D111 gently we strove to attaln our goal the Tumor year wh1ch every Freshman and Sophomore eagerly ant1c1pates and wh1ch each Semor Joyfully looks back upon Th1s year l934 35 too had many long remembered red letter days Our Blshop vrslted us on St Raphael s Day and left us a cherlshed hollday rn Decern ber C G H sent a large representatron to the Sodal1ty Conven t on and March brought wlth 1t our Retreat wrth 1ts many bless mgs Then followed our basketball champlonshrp wh1ch we won rn splte of several other strong teams 1n the held Th1s brought our Sophomore year to a close E . . . ., 1 1 ' 1 1 1 1 . . . u 11 , , . . ., 1 . . .. . . , . 1 1 1 1 ' 1 , . 1 1 1 - 1 ' 1 1 , . . . . , , , . . . 1 - - J- 1 'J - 11 Mfhen September l935 rolled around as luniors we were in pired o go ahead and seek new laurels for C G H S Both in social cnd scholastic standing we luniors diligently worked o fulfill cur cuties for the year Again the students brought honors o C C H S in the form of winning the Tidings Drive To add to our school interest the P T A organ17ed the first Bazaar for which lunior cooperation was l00 That anxiously awaited rctreat weelf in which ve ponder over past present and future arrived lune 4 witnessed the election of cur Student Body offi cers with Betty Ann eclca a president to guide us in our Senior year To show our appreciation of Senior friendship on Iune 5 if gave them a Farewell Dance Commencement drew near and at last we were on the top-we were Seniorsl September l4 l937 marked the beginning of our Senior Year As this was the most memorable year of the four we as Seniors aided the Student Body in securing new honors for our Alma Mater The efforts of two of our Seniors Emily Erramouspe and new glories or C G H S Our second place in the city wide Fire Prevention Contest November l0 brought another coveted cup to our school On March l4 Anita again emerged victorious by winning the Annual Apologetical Contest Aside from these events the arrival of the Senior Rings the Alumnae Prom the May Day Carnival and our last retreat will long hold a place in our memorie Whispering Walls a play given under the auspices of the Senior Class showed the worthy endeavors of the Seniors in the field of dramatics No less worthy of praise was the oocretta lchabod Crane which di played very vividly the talents of our singers To bring our four years to a close the traditional Senior Cla s Color Day ceremonies were enacted C mmencement is upon us and it finds us with orrow in our hearts that we must lcave our fellow classmates but it also finds us filled with grateful affection for our Principal Father lvforan and for the faculty for having made our high school days happy and ruitful IOAN CARROT l Presiaent CI , , ii A ' , .
