The Boatswain ' s Mates, those air- loving, outdoor types, with a wide command of salty language and the ability to be heard over a full gale, provide the manpower at GQ to fire the turret. During anchoring and mooring they handle the starboard hook and lines to insure that the ship doesn ' t drift too far from the liberty landing.
