The S-2 and S-3 Divisions rate high on the important list. Why? Because we all likelto eat and live com- fortably, and that's Why these men are here. The commissary group sees to it that we get Whole- some, balanced, vvell-cooked meals served hot and palatable. The bake shop, the butcher shop, and vegetable preparation room, and the dry provisions and refrigeration spaces all work toward one goal: to keep you vvell-fed and happy. Working with the commissarymen are the ship's servicemen. They hold down many jobs aboard the ship, each as important as the next. The services performed by these men could be compared to your hometown shopping center. They run the ship's store, soda fountain, barber shop, laundry, tailor's shop, and the cobbler shop. lt is there iob to maintain the high standard of personnel appearance. Protlt from these activities are placed in the Welfare and Recreation fund and is used to hnance such items as ship's parties, dances, movies, books and magazines.
