S-l Division, the stores group, receives, issues, and accounts for all general stores, supplies and spare parts which the ship uses. Though the much used 307 chit is a bare scrap of paper when blank, when filled out it becomes one of the most important documents in the Navy. From the lowliest nut or bolt to complete precision electronics devices, hre control computers or main propulsion electronics devices, the 307 chit is the key piece to the complicated iigsavv of purchasing, stovv- ing, and issuing equipment for which the Supply Department is responsible. The storekeepers who run S-l Division are highly trained in their field ot work and these industrious men efticiently provide one of the most essential services to the Los Angeles: that of supplying equip- mentand materials to keep all departments in the highest level ot operating eFficiency.
