, l l I OE division Highly skilled and specialized individuls make up the OE Division aboard the ship: the electronic technicians or ETs . The modern Navy uses electronics equipment for radio communi- cations, for navigation lloranl, for detecting ships and aircraft lradarl, and for assistance in identifying friendly aircraft llFFl. Aboard the Los Angeles there are hundreds of thousands of dol- lars worth of equipment, but it would be of no value if it were not operating at peak efficiency. lt is the iob of OE Division to see to it that nothing does go wrong, but if the occasion arises, whether at high noon or the wee-hours of the morning, the call goes out to fix it! and they always answer the call promptly. lt's a big iob these ETS shoulder, taking care of over 250 maior units of electronic equipment: antennas, connection boxes, inumerable switches, and thousands of feet of cabling. Be it the smal- lest broadcasting receiver or the most complicated piece of radar gear, the responsibility for its top notch condition rests squarely upon OE Division.
