A delightful group of plays was presented to the student body this year. Beginning the season was the Christmas play The Other Wise Man. Staging and lighting effects plus the melodious choral background set the stage for a moving performance. ln January Little Theater moved into full swing. A professionally costumed cast presented Alice in Wonderland and did a wonderful job in the portrayal of animated characters, sparked by the effervescent Red Queen, Judy Bennett: the spry, young Knave of Hearts, Keith Lewis, the deep contralto of the Gryphon, Jan Brubeck, and the versatile portrayals of Alice by Penny Gentry and Sondi Pratt. In February, the Drama I classes presented Three in a Row. The first of these was the comedy 4'Sugar and Spice, depicting the life and times of a high school girls' clique led by Carol Cooper and her rival Carlene Giezle. Sal- vation Corner, another comedy, showed the idiosyncrasies of three old cronies, Judy Wil- liams, Pat Dickinson and Wanda Tipton. The serious dramatic offering of the evening was Jeanne d'Arc, the moving story of a part of Jeanne's life in her home town. Jeanne was portrayed superbly by Kaye Hennigar. Kaye continued her stardom in the lead role of Shu- bert Alley. Sue Dessin did a good job as Kaye's older, self-sacrificing sister. In May the Senior Drama class concluded this year's thespian activities with an unforgettable performance of Martinez Sierra's beautiful classic, The Cradle Song.
