The club has evening monthly meetings, but its influence extends far beyond the athletic entertainment and movies. The Block LA's functions are felt throughout the school by every in the annual Luau and is responsible for policing games, mak- ing and selling programs, and officiating at meets. The members of the club participate in additional functions, such as the Kickoff Banquet, Spring Date Social, and the Bench- warmer Barbeque, sponsored by the fathers' counterpart of the Block LA. student. The club sponsors one of the top dances of the year FRESHMAN-SOPHOMORE BLOCK LA. It started with a very small number of schools and has grown until it now has over 800 chapters. Los Altos High School C. S. F. is Chapter Number 527 c. Many colleges and universities, recognizing that those Who attain life membership in C. S. F. in high school are usually successful in college, have offered S225,000 in scholarships to C. S. F. sealbearers. The Los Altos Chapter has tried to live up to the C.S.F. motto Scholarship for Service by raising twelve hundred dol- lars a year to support the exchange student program of the American Field Service.
