HEART TO HEART The annual Valentine ' s Carnation Day saw nearly 2,000 carnations exchanged. Sponsored by the Student Council, the event grows each year. The council first ordered the usual 1,500 and then had to order 500 more. As usual, the flowers arrived 24 hours later than expected, but because of the weekend, all received their carnations on time. senior Cadet Lt. Col. Trent R. Davey has been a member of the Civil Air Patrol for six years. He has participated in seven actual missions for downed aircraft and eight search and rescue exercises. Because of his fine work, Trent has received two prestigeous awards, the Billy Mitchell Award, and the Ame- lia Earhart Award. He learned to fly through CAP and is preparing for his pilot license. Next Year Trent will be attending NMSU and study wild life management. Jeff Benham is the creator of the E.T. in our book. As one would guess, art is his big thing. He has taken art every year in school and does equally well with oil, water, pens, pencils, and acrylics. He has won awards at both the State Fair and the New Mexico Arts and Crafts Festival. When Universal Studios refused us permission to use his drawing, Jeff got on the phone, and because of his in in Hollywood, we did receive a copyright release. J 30 Seniors -s ragrast
