Aller securing second place in lhe Citrus Bell League in fool-ball, lhe good work was continued and Challey look second place in baslcel-ball also. The Davis lraclc meel ollered Challey a chance lo really display her besl, and our school came home wilh lirsl place by a size- able margin. 'The dramalic abilily ol lhe Senior class made their play, G ro wi n g Pains, a glorious success. The Extravaganza, Collegiale Cruise, was as equally well pre- senled. 0 Informal dances were held lor lhe lirsl lime and lhe Challey enlhusiasm and good will made lhem inslanlaneous successes. Also 'lor lhe lirsl in lhe hislory ol our school lower classmen were allowed lo allend a school dance. The Junior-Senior dances were also brighl spols in lhe year's aclivilies. 0 The second semesler Sludenl Body elections in- auguralecl polilical parlies, lhe Bow Ties and lhe Red Ribbons. The parlies rallied behind lheir candidales, Leroy Brown and Exie Stevens, wearing parly emblems. Alter slep rallies, campaign plallorms and propa- ganda, Leroy Brown, Bow Tie candidale, was elecled. 0 Challey has been mosl lorlunale lhis year in having debalers and spealcers ol abilily. Many new lealures were inauguraled in Challey's lilleenlh annual Junior lair. 0 De- spile lhe unlinished condilion ol lhe campus and lhe condemnalion ol our auditorium lhe spiril ol enthusiasm and co-operalion, which is Challey's, have made this year a series ol brilliant successes. ,L ' GIRLS LEAGUE .The Girls' League, of which all girls auto- matically become members on entering here. completed a very successful year. Besides the guides who helped new students to familiar- ize themselves with lhe campus, upperclass girls were appointed liHle sisters among the new girls, and helped them get acquainted. ' A big and little sister lea was given to lur- ther friendship among the new girls. A tea for the mothers of each individual class was held so that teachers and parents could know each other better. The mother and daughter banquet was held March I3, with a sports mo- tii. The hoslesses for each fable decorated il to represent a sport, and the head table was typified by an Olympic emblem. 0 The Lea- gue collected food and toys for the needy at Chrislmas time and divided them among vari- ous welfare organizations for distribution. Funds were raised by selling pompoms during the football season: candy wrapper week , when +he League was paid one cent for every candy wrapper it collec+edp and by selling home-made candy al the plays. 0 The Chaf- ley Girls' League cooperates with the other leagues in Southern California. The delegales who attended the fall convention in San Diego, October I5 and lb, were Midge Johns, president: and Barbara Phibbs, pro gram chairman. Exie Jean Stevens, chairman of +he faculty relations commilleeg and Midge Johns represented Chalfey at the spring con- vention at l-luntinglon beach, April I8. Cabi- net officers of the League met +he second Monday of each mon+h wi+h a po+ luck supper and business meeting combined. If has been shoufed and sung in vicfory and de- feaf, by frail Freshmen and mighfy Seniors. lf is a lasfing parf of fhe Chaffey fradifion. When fhe original words were wriffen in l906 by lvlrs. Lana M. C. Conger, slill a Chaffey feacher, fhe song was called fhe Cardinal and Black, affer Onfario l-'ligh Schools col- ors. The fune is an old Princefon one. When Chaffey was creafed, if became fhe Orange and Black, and has been Chaffey's song ever since.
