Cheer Lookin? Hotter Than Ever The prime responsibility of the cheer squad is to lead school spirit and to support the many hot athletic teams at Los Al. This year varsity took no time at all heating up the campus activities. The Varsity Competition squad once again qualified to compete in the National Cheerleading Championships in the beginning of March. Later the Top to Bottom - Scott Fitzgerald, Cin- namon Chaney, Denise Kaneko, Bill Busenkell, Chuck Vreeland, Amy Lewis, Devin Budd, Kanani Turco, Kim Ramseyer, Kelly Clark, Wendy Nugier, Darlane Kamm, Ron Wilhelm, Jane Chapman, Darin An- thony, Julie Siler, Dana Rosenfeld, Ronna Coulter. Senior, Wendy Nugier glances at the scoreboard to make sure our boys are still ahead. Ronna Coulter, Cinnamon Chaney and Stephanie Snow lead the crowd with give me an UL. Chuck Vreeland and Devin Budd ignite the crowd and prepare to award the in- famous spirit stick. squad competed in the Miss Drill Team USA, showing off all of their tremendous talents and heating up the competition. Also, Los Al Varsi- ty Cheer was sizzling and they were chosen the official cheer squad of the L.A. Rams. 6 Song Sizzles Under The Sun Those effervescent Songleaders danced their way to the Edge of Heaven, but still remained in Control throughout this past year. Their spirit and talent sent chills through the crowds at the pep assemblies and games alike. The song squad was honored this year by being selected as one of the top squads in the country and by being asked to l E 'I 1 participate in the NCA Songleading National Championships in January. Captain Margi Hibschman and coach Rey Lozano welcomed the new members and worked hard to represent Los Al in the finest manner. Our songleaders continued to sizzle well out of the winter and into the spring. Top to Bottom -- Stephanie Snow, Margie Hibschman, Anne Sauve, Allissa Robinson, Linda Jensen, Michelle Haub, Vanessa Thomas, Mary McGill, Lily Troung. Senior Vanessa Thomas cheers the mighty Griffins on to victory. At an afternoon practice the songleaders practice their Edge of Heaven routine. J .V.'s Light Up Los Al This year, the J.V.'s shined bright- ly! They spent countless hours prac- ticing, painting, posters and cheering for the Los Al spirit. At the Ar- royofHuntington Beach competition, the Junior Varsity girls radiated energy out to the crowd displaying their winning showmanship. The squad consisted of fourteen talented girls, some previous members of the freshman squad. Guy Woodson, former Varsity Yell leader, came back to help coach the girls and put them in the national competition also. K X lil l to Bottom - Holly Noonan, Tracey Delaney, Katy Comings, Mayg Wendy Hines, Marty Jo Spurlock, Lisa Orvis, Erin Shirley Wang, Holly Crum, Sara Libby, Jana Harden, Nina Kate Bryson. During the Homecoming game, Holly Crum takes a bunch of balloons out to the field. At the first pep assembly, Colleen May and Nida Naffarette stretch out together. J .V. girls finish their routine in perfect form.
