FAR FROM THE ORDINARY Curro comes to us from Madrid, Spain and is staying with the James Rohling family while at LHS. He says that his reasons for coming are first, to speak English better, second, to spend a really fun high school year, and third, to learn a lot of new things. When asked what he missed about Spain, he replies that he misses mostly the people at home who care about him and next, the fun, Friday nights. At home there are five family members, a brother, two sisters, and his parents. His sisters are 23 and 22 and his brother is 10. When in school in Spain, Curro wakes up at 8:00 A.M. He starts to school at 9:00 A.M. Lunch is at 11:00 A.M. School begins again at 2:30 P.M. and finishes at 5:30 P.M. or 6:00 P.M. After school there is homework for the next day. After high school Curro plans to go to France and then to return to the U.S. to Kentucky or Boston to some factories where his father works. Curro has a deep respect for American girls and their crazy, straightforward attitude toward life. What he likes most is that they are unafraid to say what they think without shyness or embarrassment. For a final comment Curro says: “No me arrepiento en absoluto de haber venido uno ano a U.S.A. Me lo he pasado fenomeno, todo el mundo ha sido muy amable conmigo. Gracias a todos. 7
