The theme of the 1977 Hoemcoming was Mustang Spirit Through the Ages. The week began a rather rainy one. Although it was wet and soggy on the outside, this didn't dampen the spirit of any of the students on the inside. Monday, the student body and the faculty members masqueraded as hillbillies. Tuesday was clown day, and the student body dressed in their clown attire. Wednesday the student body emerged from the prairie in their cowboy getup. Thursday was black and gold day at Loretto. The week ended with the student body matching the decade of their float. To add to the competition between classes, the halls were decorated on Wednesday and judged Thursday, with the Senior class triumphantly coming out with the top honor; the Junior class received 2nd place, the Freshman class took 3rd and the Sophomore class followed with a close 4th place. Thursday night the student body gathered for the annual bonfire, where the classes competed for the coveted Homecoming Spirit Stick . Once again the Senior class walked away with top honors. Friday morning was spent finishing up the many hours of hard work on the floats. The annual homecoming parade began at 1:30. The parade showed hard work and imagination with a large variety of floats. The junior float squeezed by the Seniors' float to win the top award with their airplane soaring high. The Seniors landed their flying saucer in 2nd place with the Sophomore float be-boping into 3rd place and the Freshmen taking 4th. Homecoming night was highlighted by pre-game festivities, which included the crowning of the 1977 Homecoming Queen and the well planned, decorative floats parading around the football field, the homecoming was sadly brought to a close as the Mustangs suffered a defeat at the hands of the Centerville Bulldogs. Later that night devastated fans quietly filled the dance floor to hear the sound of Spirit at the 1977 Homecoming Dance.

Moods are a mental disposition that can be in the form of spirit, courage, energetic humor, temper or just the blahs. The student life can reflect many moods; from seriousness to spirited jubliation. These many moods are brought out in all the faces of the students, whether engaged in enthusiasm for a spirit building activity or just looking off into nowhere. All the students add to the many moods at Loretto High School. 5
