Coach Bob Edens sent his Mustangs against foes that were more experienced and usually much taller. The Mustangs lost their first three games by six points each and lost their fourth game by five points. Then the Mustangs won their first game by defeating a taller Brentwood Academy team by one point. After losing to Pulaski and Summertown, the Mustangs went to Pulaski to play Campbellsville. The Mustangs soundly defeated Campbells ville by seventeen points. Then the Mustangs went on a six game losing streak starting with Shelbyville in the Christmas Tournament in Pulaski. The losing streak ended with a four point victory over Collinwood at Collinwood. Then the Mustangs demolished Campbellsville at Loretto by forty-one points. The Mustangs won five of their last seven games. Their last seasonal game turned into a victory over Coach Eden s former team, Fayetteville. The Mustangs went into the district tournament at Pulaski. Their hopes were shattered by a much taller Centerville team that was out for revenge of an earlier loss to Loretto. The Mustangs ended with a 7-15 record, which was better than many people expected.
