Soretio yfigA ScAooA fo re wo ref Although the halls of LHS look the same as they did years ago, many feet have trod the corridors, contributing to the growth and development of the school. The laughter of students has bounced and echoed through the halls, but the quiet of classes hard at work has also crept through the halls. The personalities of these students have seeped into LHS to create a unique character — a mixture of the good, the fun-loving, the eager, and the studious. In addition each freshman class enters to obtain as much as is possible from LHS. Upon graduating that same class takes a part of LHS with it; but LHS retains more than has been taken away. After many years, LHS has grown to its present commanding stature with grace and dignity. 2 lafJe of Coon en s Dedication.....................................4 Principal......................................6 Faculty........................................7 Seniors.......................................12 Mr. and Miss LHS..............................13 Officers and Sponsors.........................14 Juniors........................................33 Sophomores....................................47 Freshmen.......................................58 Sports........................................67 Organization...................................93 Activities....................................114 Advertisements................................169 dedication Dear Mr. Chapman We the former students of LHS would like to thank you for your sincere guidance as our Principal. Your efforts during the past twelve years not only have truly enhanced our class and previous classes but also have personally harvested many friendships. We dedicate this yearbook to you in the hope that throughout the years to come you will remember our class with fond memories. And with this dedication we extend to you our wishes for a very pleasant retirement. Sincerely yours, Mr. Chapman talks . . . and talks . . . and talks . . . and Pattic! Where are my cough drops, talks. Who said my eyes were weak. Mr. Chapman poses with the coaches. Our Principal To the students of Loretto High School It has been my privilege to observe the growth and progress of this school since its be- ginning in 1928 and for the last thirteen years. I have had the distinctive privilege to have been closely associated with the institution. It is with regret that I sever my connections with Loretto High School at the close of this school year but I believe that it is in the best interest of all concerned to do so. How- ever, I shall watch with continued interest the efforts of each of you and wish for you the best of everything in the undertaking you may select. MR. CHAPMAN Principal MRS. I can’t believe it! () fas s ffis or ij In 1962, the class of 1966 set sail on the sea of Secondary Education at Loretto High School. There were approximately 169 of us then and we entered high school with mixed emotions — proud to have finally reached high school, but scared because we were so unacquainted with our new surroundings. We spent our first week learning how to get around the buildings, which then looked so large to us, and making out our schedules, which then was so very confusing to us. To help us with our problems and guide us through our high school days we elected Mrs. James Held and Mr. James Smith as our sponsors. We also elected Milton Weaver as our class president, Milton Walters as vice-president, and Gayle Allred as secretary-treasurer. Our superlatives for that year were: Mr. and Miss Freshman Class — Harry Green and Judy Tidwell; Most Studious — Mary Beth Fredebeil and Garey Yocum; Most Athletic — Gayle Allred and Tommy Richardson; Most Versatile — Glynda Hardwick and Milton Walters: Friendliest — Hazel (McKinney) Gallien and Bud Hollman; Wittiest — Jane O'Connor and Larry Gladney. Gayle Allred was the freshman attendant to the football queen and June (Thomas) Davis was elected cheerleader. Although we had lost thirty-one members, we began our Sophomore year feeling much more superior because now we knew “all the ropes. We elected as our president, Harry Green, as Vice-President, Ted Hendrix, and as Secretary-Treasurer Larry Gladney and as reporter Byron Wright. Mr. Smith moved away and we elected Mr. Ralph Ferguson to fill his position as class sponsor. Our sophomore superlatives were: Mr. and Miss Sophomore Class — Ted Hendrix and June (Thomas) Davis; Friendliest — Theresa Headrick and Bud Hollman; Most Popular — Mary Beth Fredebeil and Denny Hale; Best All Round — Regan Marston and Stevie Davis; Most Ambitious — Hazel Gallien and Tommy Patt; Most Humorous — Glynda Hardwick and Larry Gladney; Best Personality — Joan Slater and Johnny Adams; Best Looking — Freda (Buckner) Flatt and Barry Ramsey; Most Typical — Delores Hill and Byron Wright; Most Studious — Garey Yocum and Joan Killen and Most Athletic — Gayle Allred and Harry Green. June (Thomas) Davis was the attendant to the football queen and Bren- da Lee was elected cheerleader. Harry Green and Regan Marston were the County Day Representatives. Our Sophomore year was highlighted by a Mother-Daughter banquet sponsored by the FHA and a Father-Son banquet sponsored by the FFA. This was also the year that the Physical Education Classes presented dances on the football field. When our Junior year rolled around, our number had decreased to 128. We lost both sponsors, therefore, we elected Mrs. Clark and Mr. Stutts to help us through our last two years. Ted Hendrix was elected President, Harry Green Vice-President, Joan Killen Secretary, and Byron Wright Reporter, for our Junior class. Our superlatives were — Mr. and Miss Junior Class — Harry Green and Delores Hill; Most Studious — Theresa Headrick and Bud Hollman; Best Personality — Kay Balckwell and Steve Davis; Most Ambitious — Joan Killen and Harold Grigsby; Most Athletic — Evelyn Kimbrell and Larry Gladney; Most Popular — Hazel (McKinney) Gallien and Ted Hendrix; Best All Around — June (Thomas) Davis and Sam John Passeralla; Friendliest — Glynda Hardwick and Tony Cox; Most Typical — Maribeth Fredebeil and Bruce Walters; Best Looking — Jackie Farr and Barry Ramsey; Most Humorous — Claudia Sewell and Malcolm Myres. Delores Hill and Glynda Hardwick were the attendants to the football queen. Joan Killen and Ted Hendrix led in the graduating class and Martha Rose Woodward was the piano accompanist. Regan Marston, Maribeth Fredebeil, Gayle Allred, and Judy Fisher were usherettes for the graduation exercises and Harold Grigsby, Gary Ridgeway, Bud Hollman, and Malcolm Myres were ushers. This was the year that we sold magazines to raise money and we voted to use part of that money to buy air conditioners for the new buildings. One of the highlights of this year was the party that we juniors gave the seniors. Finally we became seniors. Our class now consisted of only 114 members. We elected as our president Garey Yocum, as Vice-President Bud Hollman, as Secretary' Theresa Headrick, as Treasurer Sam John Passerella, and as reporter Hazel (McKinney) Gallien. Superlatives our senior year were: Most Popular — Garey Yocum and June (Thomas) Davis; Best Personality — Joan Killen and Sam John Passerella; Best Looking — Hazel (McKinney) Gallien and Sammy Passarella; Most Athletic — Evelyn Kimberll and Harry Green; Most Studious — Gayle Allred and Bud Hollman; Best All Around — Glynda Hardwick and Malcolm Myres; Most School Spirit — Brenda Lee and Michael Beckman; Most Likely to Succeed — Claudia Evans and Harold Grigsby; and Wittiest — Kay Blackwell and Joe Bedkman. Maribeth Fredebeil and Bud Hollman were chosen to be Mr. and Miss LHS. Judy Tidwell was chosen Homecom- ing Queen of 1966. Maribeth Fredebeil and Glynda Hardwick were the senior attendants to the queen. Judy Fisher and Regan Marston were Valedictorian and Sa- lutatorian respectively. Judith Hurst and Bobby Adair were County Day Representatives. One of the highlights of our senior year was ‘‘Senior Week. Our days as seniors were sparkled by attending class meetings, purchasing class rings, and receiving caps and gowns. We are leaving high school with many plans and high hopes. 163 (' ass Prop iectj As reporter of the New York Times, my new assignment was to find out what the Loretto High School Class of 1966 is doing now. This is what I discovered. The Bobby Adair Crusades are now at Madison Square Garden. One hundred- thousand people turned out to hear Mr. Adair preach last night.
