N LOVING MEMORY OF OUR BELOVED PRESIDENT: JOHN FITZGERALD KENNEDY As the sorrowed family of John F . Kennedy marched together, they wondered if this was really tr ue. But how could they doubt it? All questions and doubts were drowned out by the sound of muffled drums, the sight of the funeral procession, the crowds that lined the way . . . and the coffin . And now a world is left with only memories . The memories of our beloved president, John Fitzgerald Kennedy, touch the hearts of every race and creed . He was truly a man devoted to his country; he worked, in his unselfish way, to promote the progress and welfare of his nation . His efforts will never be forgotten . The Negro remembers him for his fight for human rights . The new states remember him for their feelings of impor- tance . The wretched remember him for the broken bonds of mass misery which helped them help themselves . Our adversary remembers him for his great power. Those who feared and lived in terror remember him for his pledge to overthrow self-destruction. The ambitious remember their leader and the meek their example . A wife remembers a love, and a young boy and girl remember a kind father. Thus, each in his own way remembers a great man. Let us never question the death of John Kennedy, but let us rather be grateful that he once lived . For his Christian vocation has been fulfilled, and the energy, faith, and devotion of this man wrought forth its light in our hearts . And the glow from that fire can truly light the world . --Delores Keelean Allen County PubiicLibraiy 900 Webster Street PO Box 2270 Fort Wayne. IN 46801-2270
