The varsity team displayed much ability this year in cap- turing two trophies. They re- ceived the runners-up trophy in the TIA county tournament, which no other Lordstown team has done beforeg and they won the League lil trophy for the third year straight. They also went to the district tournament in Youngstown as another first for Lordstown teams, but lost the game to Lowellville by a close margin. Seniors McLean, Fowler, Yerke, Schlott, Sheldon, and Mansell leave the squad, but the prospects for next year's team are very good. THE CHAMPIONSHIP STORY Coach Joe Rich explains some of the nlays used by Coach Ray Sweeney's Champion cagers before the final TIA playoff. While student assistant, Bill Nicholas, looks on. Ron Yerke C135 and Bob McLean ClOD, the game's high point men, watch Dick Fowler 18D go up for a close hook shot from,a fast break. The Red Devil five lost the vsme, however, Rich receives the teams runners up trophy from a TIA official. M 1 N 1 N 1 1 I n K km, 'ii . X! Junior Vars ty V A.I!
