Havrng never seen a real televrsron producuon we took our seats rn thrs large burldrng The program soon got under way and we felt proud to see the spotlrght shrnrng on our srngrng star Mrs Raymond Rrckards former Norma Lee Evans Upon leavrng the studro we learned the cameras rn thrs network had been deslgned and tested by Trmothy Murray We were taken rn next day by an art show One parntrng entrtled Pennres from Heaven took our eye as we walked down the long corrrdor of thrs art gallery especrally when we notrced rt had been parnted by our classmate Joseph Asher Burbage Sudden ly realrzrng that tomorrow was the brg day for the 500 mrle race at the Indranapolrs Speedway we hurrred out of the gallery and on to the arrport to catch the next plane out Due to the bad weather we arrrved Just ln ttme to see the last lap When the cloud of dust cleared we could see that caraff 12 was rn the lead We stood up rn amazement to watch Rancel Evans who motored on past home stretch recerve the gold trophy of 1960 Congratulatrng hrm we took a plane back to Phrladelphra prckea up our car and returned to Ocean Vrew Here we were able to wrmess the new Bur bage greenhouse, whrch had been completed whrle we had been away Alrce rs care fully watermg and carrng for the flowers Our Journey completed trred and weary we made for home What a class we have turned out to bel May we ever forward march And farthful loyal be To vrctorrous green and whrte The banners of Old L B gf! , n s 0 1 n I . . . . . ,, , 0 I n - - . - I I I I - I - , Q , n 1 n n , s l u ' . - I I I 0 . In the early mornrng of October 14 1960 we left Ocean Vrew to vrsrt old class mates Our frrst stop was the Bethany Beach Trarnrng Camp where we recognrzed two of our classmates Mr Kenneth Tuschoff and Mr Raymond Rrckards strugglrng to support therr wrves As we entered Rehoboth we saw a red Ford drrvrng up rn front of a new constructron and rt was then we recognrzed Mr De Wrtt Wolfe now a large contractor havrng lunch brought to hrm by the former Shrrley Collrns hrs wrfe We turned off the mam highway rnto the Henlopen acres where we notrced a large brrck home Berng rnterested rn thrs type we stopped and rang the doorbell The drgnrfred lady who answered the door turned out to be Mrs Ray Darsey who rnformed us that her home was now berng redecorated by the rnterror decorator Mrss Rosalee Smrth We drd not tarry long here but drove on toward Lewes Here I notrced several darry farms The especrally large one on the rrght we found to belong to Mr Wayne West As we drove past we could see Bonnre Just enterrng the farmhouse Next we stopped at the Beebe hosprtal to have a look at the new research laboratory Here we found Dr Wayne Collrns Operatlng an Xray machme wrth the regrstered nurse Mrs Darold Adkrns the former Mona Rrckards actrng as assrstant Leavrng Beebe and drrvrng on toward Mrlford we realrzed our gas was very low and therefore pulled rnto the next servrce center where proprretor Leroy Marvel frlled our car wrth gas whrle mechanrc Charles Hrtchens checked the orl We congratulated them on therr frne servrce and took off once more Passrng by the Dover Arr Base we notrced a Jet Just leavrng the runway In the background wavrng goodbye to the prlot was hrs wrfe Mrs Robert Dorman formerly Lrnda Qurllen Fatrgue from rrdrng persuaded us to take rn a oot ball game at the Unrversrty of Delaware where we recognrzed two of our former class mates Nancy Turner and Jane Hargadrne strollrng hand rn hand across the campus grounds The excrtement brought on by the football game left us hungry and very trred We stopped rn for a snack at the near by drner owned and operated by Mr and Mrs Elrjah Tyre QArneva Brasure j Here we enjoyed a refreshrng snack As nrght fell we began lookrng for a place to retrre A neon srgn whrch read Shockley s Hotel drew our attentron It wasn t untrl after havrng a frrendly conversatron wrth the desk clerk Irene Cathell that we learned thrs hotel was owned by Russel Shockley The followrng mornrng we got up early rn order to take a look rn on Goldey Bea com About halfway down the corrrdor we saw the famrlrar blonde Jean Hrckman now engaged to Kenneth Turner workrng her way through college Before enterrng Brandywrne we notrced a huge race track wrth a farm house rn the background The man wrth the crgar rn his mouth leadrng a thoroughbred around the track was none other than Gene Darsey It looks as rf hrs horse racrng tales rn school drd amount to somethrng after all It was Gene who drew our attentron to the man on the tractor across the road He explarned to us that thrs farm whrch consrsted of 100 acres was owned and managed by Curtrs Harper As we rode past Alexrs I Dupont School rn Wrl mrngton we caught a glrmpse of Mr Emory Vrckers wartrng out front for hrs wrfe Edrth who had recerved her master s degree and was now teachrng Englrsh We were nearly past when we suddenly recognrzed another famrlrar frgure comrng down the steps It seems as rf the Hrll grrls surely do lrke becomrng school secretarres It was Just gettrng dusky dark when we drove rnto Phrladelphra and much to our surprrse saw Tommy Frey drrve rnto the Atlantrc Refrnrng Co to put rn hrs applrcatron We followed hrm rnto the offrce and were astonrshed to see our old classmate Lrnwood Townsend seated behrnd a large desk makrng out Tommy s applrcatron Because our trme was runnrng short we left our car behrnd and took a plane to New York It was nrght and the lrghts were beautrful as we came rnto New York Crty Hrgh above everythrng else we saw the letters W F I L T V whrch attracted mrllrons of tourrsts each year O I 1 0 I I v 1 0 1 1 0 l 1 1 I a g Q I 1 , 1 , Q 4 Q 1 , a n Q , u 1 1 I 9 0 n o 4 n g s 1 I f ' 1 , 1 o ' o s Q Q . . . . ,, , , . ,, . , .
