ll FNll,5.50o 5 l -- Do you see what I see? It's a Hawkette pom pon tree. See what we learned in Chemistry? Dr. Maslowsky would be proud. Many students and alumni were Homeward Bound for the 1979 Loras and Clarke Homecoming festivities. The celebration began Friday evening with a new attraction - an outdoor pep rally held in the Rock Bowl followed by a bonfire. The Homecom- ing royalty was introduced and the king and queen were crowned. Queen Mary Kuhl and King Brian Henderson were chosen to reign over a court that included Loras students Marikay Cor- nelis, julie O'Brien, Mark Cloghessy, Mike Ehrenstrom, Pete Mordente, Vince Berta, and Norb lanning, and Clarke women Margaret Doyle, Col- leen Ford and Mary Lyons. Kevin Conlon won the first annual Fun Run which preceded the parade Father Warren Nye led through the streets of Dubuque on Saturday morning. After a tailgating party on Keane field, hordes of fans headed for the Rock Bowl to witness a hard-fought football game between the Duhawks and the Lakeland Muskies. Fate was against Loras as the team ended up on the short end of a 28-3 score. Spirits weren't dampened for long, though - students, faculty and alumni dined and danced at Five Flags Civic Center. Entertainment for the dinner was provided by the Baker's Dozen. Things were wrapped up on Sunday with a concert by the United States Marine Band. Homecoming '79 was a great success and left all the par- ticipants looking forward to again being Homeward Bound . Kevin Cameron of the Baker's Dozen performs.
