Assistant Principal Students, Fifty-five years of Scimitars reflect the high school days of Lorain students. This annual will mean much to you as years go by. The scattered segments of your school days depicted within these pages serve as reminders of eventful days. This Scimitar is a treasury of memories. May it bring back some happy times which you cherished during your growth here. Continue to grow intellectually and spiritually. 8.13. ILM? Principal To the student body, This school year will long be remembered. Not only was '57-'58 in the Geophysical Year, but the Russians really stunned Americans with the surprise launching of their satellites. Most good citizens will want to accept their responsibility as citizens. Too often we think of our privileges and rights and forget the duties that go along with our heritage. Perhaps, from this year on, young people as well as adults, will take school work more seriously. Perhaps, students will strive to excel, to get good grades in school, to learn. We must accept that it will take knowledge as well as material things to compete with the Russians, or we will lose our American way of life. The staff of Lorain High School ioin me in my hope and belief that the pupils of this school will accept their duty and rise to the challenge. Since our first l..l-l.S. commencement in l879, many of our graduates, by their accomplish- ments, have brought honor to Lorain. This Scimitar contains the pictures of many stu- dents who will some day join this select group. Sincerely yours, CQ,
