A Cappella Choir Although not entirely composed of seniors, the A Cappella Choir is thought of as the senior choir of Lorain High School. lt is the top vocal music organization and is the goal of all who enter the vocal music program at Lorain High. Besides giving the annual operetta, the choir pre- sents an annual Christmas concert and a spring concert. This year the choir conceived the idea of the Tri-School Festival, whereby Elyria and Sandusky came to Lorain to ioin in a concert which was well received by a very large audience. The operetta, as well as other choir activities, will long be remembered by those who partici- pated in it. Rosemarie was chosen as the thirty-fourth annual operetta. The proceeds of the performances were used toward the purchase of new choir robes. This organization prides it- self on its great loyalty and on the fact that a large number of alumni return each year to visit the choir. Mr. Hansen is director of the choir. The choir elects its officers semi-annually. Its many duties in- clude the Christmas concert, the ioint spring con- cert, and the P.T.A. concert. Any student is eligible to belong to the Cadet Choir who has completed at least one semester with the Mixed Chorus and is interested in performing before public gatherings. This choir is the stepping stone to the A Cappella Choir, and almost all members eventually ioin the larger choir. ,wwe- Yer Cadet Choir Members appear amused by one of Mr. Han- sen's side remarks. SYNOPSIS Emile LaFlamme, the brother and guardian of Rose Marie, insists that she marry Hawley, a wealthy man, instead of Jim Kenyon, the man whom she really loves. With the help of Herman and Jane, Jim continues to see Rose Marie, while Wanda, the wife of Black-Eagle, pursues Hawley. Surprised during a rendezvous with Hawley, Wanda mur- ders Black-Eagle. Jim Kenyon is accused of the murder and is forced to leave Canada. Emile threatens to tell Sgt. Malone the whereabouts of Jim unless Rose Marie marries Hawley. Loretta Klein observes Mr. Freeman directing field band practice. -Y lf, J One Hundred Eight Lorain High School Band The Lorain High Band has more than proved its ver- satility by its many and varied activities. ln the fall of the year, the band busily prepares for each football game, as many hours of practice go into the final per- formance of each half-time show. The reception which each show receives from the football fans is indicative of their appreciation for the efforts of the band. As soon as the football season is over, the band becomes a concert band. Mr. Freeman is director of the band and determines which of the activities the band should play for. Assemblies, the annual Spring Concert, play- ing for the June Commencement and pep rallies are a few of the band's activities. L , 'Yu . Lorain High chool Orchestra Mr. Freeman directs. Since the time of the first student orchestra, times have in- deed changed. Starting with an eight-piece group and no conductor, the group now consists of forty instruments and has its own director. The very capable man who now holds that post is Mr. Freeman. The successor of seven other directors, he takes his iob very seriously, and as a result, has turned out a fine orchestra. Annually the or- chestra presents its own concert as well as the ioint con- cert with the choirs at Christmas-time. lt also provides the instrumental music for the operetta. This year the orchestra traveled to Sandusky for the newly-organized Tri-School Orchestra Festival and also gave concerts at each of the iunior high schools. OM Hundred Ten f-CA E ,J I 5 1 , 3 3 Q! .
