Elected Officials . C. A. MOSHER FRANK J. LAUSCHE LESLIE M. BURGE State Senator Governor State Representative The Constitution of the United States places responsibility of public education Within the states. In Ohio. Governor Frank I. Lausche appoints the State Superintendent oi Public Instruction. Leslie Burge, representative from Lorain County, and Paul Mosher, senator from the Twenty-seventh District are re- sponsible ior enacting legislation which af- fects Lorain High School. The local unit of School Electives is the Lorain Board of Edu- cation. Their duties are as follows: the gen- eral managing and control of the Lorain Public School System, adopting budgets, re- ceiving money from district and local taxes and state appropriation. They pay all bills and salaries and are responsible for the erec- tion and repair of buildings. It is the Board's duty to adopt the courses of study and super- vise the selection of textbooks. The complex system of formal education existing in Lorain would be impossible without the integration and cooperation of these various elected officials.
