Here IS a man of many achievements, Superintendent of Lo- rain City Schools, Mr P C Bunn Mr Bunn was raised in Saline- vllle, Ohio and graduated from high school there He received his Ph B from Wooster College and later won his Masterls degree in School Administration at Columbia He is married and has three sons ohn, Registrar at Bowling Green State University, Paul an mterne at University Hospital, Ann Arbor, Michigan, and Robert, who graduated this year from Massachusetts Institute of Technology and is now an Ensign in the Navy Before coming to Lorain in 1914 as Principal, he was teacher and later Principal at Ashtabula Harbor High School In 1935 he was selected to head Lorain City Schools He is past President of North Eastern Ohio Teachers Associa- tion, member Executive Committee of N E O T A, a member of American Association of School Administrators, a member of the 96 Club composed of two superintendents of each state, and a member of the Executive Committee of the Ohio Education Asso- ciation In Lorain he is the Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the First Congregational Church a director of the Y M. C. A., a Trustee of the Library Board, a member of the Rotary Club and Masonic Lodge He has ably filled his post in promoting the ed- ucational interests of the boys and girls in this community. And here IS another man of many achievements Lorain High School s Principal Mr C W Luttrell, who halls from Washing- ton Court House, Ohio At seventeen he began his educational career by teaching 1n his own neighborhood Later he received his B A and B Sci in Ed degrees at Ohio State University. Teach- ers College, Columbla University awarded h1m a Master s degree in 1924 He taught in Middletown High School after graduation at Ohio State. During the World War he was Chief Inspector of Ordinance, Gun Fire Control Instruments in the New York City area. After the war he was superintendent of schools in western Ohio and then taught at West Tech High School and at Fenn College night school. Ashtabula claimed him as principal until, in 1935 he came to Lorain High. He is married and has two daughters, oan in Lorain High School and Phyllis in junior high school. His affiliations are many: Theta Chi Fraternity, Phi Delta Kappa Fraternity, the North Eastern Ohio Teachers Association, the Ohio Education Association, chairman of the Activities com- mittee of the Ohio High School Principals Association, the Na- tional Association of Secondary School Principals, the National Educational Association. In Lorain he is a member of the Kiwanis Club, the Salvation Army Board, the Methodist Church, and President of the Lorain Church Federation. Superintendent Lorain City Schools Mr. P. C. and its ACHIEVEME PERSONS WHO-SUCCESSFULLY MANAGE THE SCHOOL Few students realize the vital importance that the Board of Edf ucation plays in our school life. It is the mainstay of our whole school system. The services of the group include the administration of the financial program of the schools, employment of teachers and other school help, awarding of contracts, provision of books and supplies, proposal of school levies, supervision of school building cnstructions, prescription of courses and the promotion of school life in general. Mr. Hartz, ClerkfTreasurer of the board, keeps the financial rec' ord of the schools and Mr. Pillans, Business Manager, supervises the physical property of the board, such as buildings, additions, repairs and maintenance of their property. The board consists of seven members who are elected by the people for a term of three years. Their services are entirely voluntary and they receive no compensation other than appreciation from the community citizens. Dr. S. V. Burley, eye, ear, nose, and throat spef cialist is president of the Board of Education. D. W. Lawrence, now serving as the Appeals agent for Draft Board No. 2 and vicefpresif dent of the Board, retired from the Welfare Department of the Na' tional Tube Company in 1940. Dr. Walter S. Nielsen is both an op' tometrist and jeweler. Joseph A. Svete is prominent as an attorneyfatf law, and Philip Austin is the assistantfsuperintendent of the power department of the National Tube Company. Nine Seated from left to rightf- W. A.
