If the Chrx txan prmclples that make our country posslble are suffxclen ly strong ln the majority of our people we may lead the wo: ld to recognize true and sound prmclples and to reahze that there ns a vast d1fference between truth and falsehood Not untxl men in hugh positions of the state and the people of that state begm to reallze the value of human personalxty and truth can there be amy local natxonal or universal harmony wzthout xt there can be no peace Fo thmk lt xmposszble to co rect such false and perverse ideas as do exlst IS only to contmue ourselves, ln error We ask How is t ln any way poss1ble Complalnmg, crxtzcxzmg and negatwe analyzing wzll accomplxsh nothlng Posihve constructlve act1on IS necessary But shall we do It over a mght mn a day or perhaps over the pe nod of a year? ralse a crop Where bxrds are few the msects are more numerous Francls Schaefer The most mterestmg thmgs I studled were the ways whlch plants bxrds, and anlmals lwe together There are many useful 1nsects such as the snout beetle and bees whlch fmd food on flowers yet do not harm them but asslst lh the polxnatlon of the flowers The dragon fly and the ground beetle de troys many harmful msects There are many harmful msects The potato beetle and the codlmg moth destroys useful plants and trees and ter n1tes destroy wood ln bU.11dlD.gS The chapter l xke best is the one that tells how every llV1I'1g thmg depends upon another for hfe Man depends on plants and anrmals for llfe Ammals depend on plants and smaller anxmals for exlstence Plants de pend on decayed mxneral matter ln so1l for llfe and the sunshine and the raln Henry W mgrath type of animal has its natural enemy which, helps keep the balance of Blology contmued The most mterestxng thlng ns how lnsects and animals have natural enemxes When there IS no natural enemxes the one SPCCIC reproduces and soon ousts man and plants For example ln Austraha where there IS no natural enemy for rabbits a paxr was taken there and soon repro duced so rapxdly that they soon became menacing to the people That I5 how easy lt IS to upset the balance of nature But the most mterestlng chapter IS about the plant lts roots leaves stem and branches It IS very mterestmg how plants obtain food water and axr necessary for lxfe Albert ansen We study Bxology to fxnd out ln whxch envxronment plants and am mals can best lxve ln what klnd of soul and cllmate plants must be grown to fmd out how plants get food from the 5011 and get sunllght through thelr leaves Another mterestmg thmg IS to note how lnsects develop from one stage lnto another and the destructlon and harm that some do also the good that others do We also learn that all llvxng thlngs must have axr water heat and light Bernard Backes By makmg use of the science of Blology man has been and wxll be able to brmg about many changes ln the anlmal and also the plants for The most lnterestlng moments 1n the class are those when puplls of the class gxve us an experiment to prove thlngs whxch I am sure that none of us knew about except our teacher Blology should be studled because It poxnts out better ways m whlch one can 11ve1f he just knows how lt teaches us the ways ln whxch btrds insects anlmals and plants llve and work together Rlchard Lecuru The most xnterestmg thlngs are the experiments It IS also interest mg to read about the aCt1V1tlCS of ammals and the dlfferent kmds of food each eats The opossum for example take very good care of their young They feed them and take care of them when they are sxck and they glve them a shelter The baby opossums curl their taxls around their mother s tall and hold on to her lt IS also lnterestmg to know which ammal or ln sect can camouflage themselves llke the walkmgstlck or the preymg mantls Another lnterestmg study lS the one about the human body We learn about the dlfferent parts of the eye ear and how the blood carrles food and oxygen to all parts of the body the dlfferent jomts of the body the ball and socket Jomts We also learn how men died worklng on ex perxments to fmd out more about a certam disease We learn about all of the pressure pomts where they are and how to use them We learn whlch blrds help the farmer most by catchmg harmful insects and the ones that do the harm to the farmers' crops james Cain ' K ' J . . . --- J which he has found much use. ---Elizabeth l..eCure Harold Muenks Now that the 1947 Season IS past history and with a. hope for vxctormous 1948 Season we shall look back a moment First let us thank Father Schoen who rated hlgh on our llst of helpers He purchased for us a keen set of equipment whlch we were proud to use Smce we used the dxamond that the flrst team had rented and mamtamed before we came 1nto the baseball spotllght we wlsh to thank them also Although our team was very slow m the hrst part of the summer we cllmbed to the top ln the last part of August Our vlctorles outnumbered our defeats Our Outfleld was sharp and the Infleld was also on the up slde Our faxlures were caused by our weakness ln pxtchmg and catchmg We expect more brave lads to rlsk thexr popularity and make thxs lm portant part of the game a. success At the f1rst meetmg of the 4-8 Season the team chose a good manager and all the members of the team intend to make the 48 Season one filled wzth stxll more successes Harold Muenks WHAT I LEARNED FROM THE MAJOR LEAGUES At the begmmng of the 1947 Baseball Season the other boys and glrls were havmg a heated dlscusslon on Major League baseball games Iwas a sllent llstener because I had never seen a Professxonal game ln my 11fe Durmg thls dlscusslon I declded to remedy thls problem I was always mterested ln baseball and learned how to play from my older sport loving brothers but about the Bag Leagues I knew nothmg I never knew what Iwas mlssmg Now It seems a part of me Today I know of all the Natlonal League stars and by lxstenmg to these games over the radlo I learned to play my pos1t1on
