Academic Enthusiasm ,.............-w- ,...... .Z-4- ,,,,,,,.....----1 ,,,....---1 What is the classroom? As students, we are supposedly here for the activites that take place within it. Therefore the classroom is one of the more important Cif not most importantl places on campus. In May, during sixth and seventh period, the classroom is definitely not a favorite place to be. However, in the winter, when the wind and snow are out in full force, one becomes aware that it is better to be inside than out. The classroom then becomes a rather pleasant, comfortable place. When homework is done everything is caught up, the classroom is a constructive learning environment. The classroom has, however, a rather unique ability in that it can change with astonishing swiftness. The learning environment then becomes a torture chamber where the student must grovel and squirm when he or she gets behind. The physical layout of the classroom itself never changes. Be it in Chaffee, Founders, or any place in between, the classroom is always four walls and a ceiling. In another - perhaps truer sense - the classroom is the students and the teachers who inhabit it every day. It is that kid over there busily engaged in tomorrow's homework. It is another kid staring out the window. A note being written about the weekend's plans. An athlete dreaming of the day's game. It is people learning, understanding, reviewing, socializing, and a myriad of other activities. It is also the teacher, who is up there trying to pull all these elements together to form an orderly, academic environment. In short, the classroom is what we, as individuals, choose to make ofit - nothing more and nothing less. 30 x,,.....- 1. -. ..1.-.. 1.-..,,.1: 1 :I . : -.. j' 5 Q Q 1 si l
