The past has given LHS a legacy to be proud of. Over the years our school has acquired an impressive reputation in athletic abilities as well as in academic abilities. Each year students are challenged to meet these past accomplishments and perhaps surpass them. Although time brings new styles, ac- complishments, and changes to our school, these past traditions still play important parts in many areas of our school. Each year brings forth new students to carry on the traditions of the past and to bring on the changes of the future. Within the pages of this book are the contributions made to our school's legacy during the 1986-1987 school year. Everyone who has helped to make this year a success, has also helped to make this yearbook a success. Does something seem a little foreign? Ms. Ackerman, Mrs. Seib, and Mrs. Wehr pose with their kilt skirts. Susan Clark helping to get lunch together for the Student Council exchange. There was a wide variety of styles to choose from including new wave, preppy and many others. Girls wearing bows in their hair and guys with untied hightop tennis shoes were common sights around LHS. Some other favorites were jean jackets, oversized clothing and tom jeans. This was also the first year students were allowed to wear knee-length shorts to school. Many students enjoyed riding in jeeps and on motorcycles. Marcy Lents and Scott Arvin modeling their jean jackets! Dena Swartzentruber posing with her back pack. Tony Fish wearing his holey jeans. Bows were worn in various ways. Charlie Tedrow has his own style. Trends 7 Faculty Teachers offer the key to our future. Our teachers have not only taught us reading, writing and arithmetic; but they have also taught us how to work for and obtain our goals. Now as high school students, we must begin making decisions for our futures. Teachers have helped us gain insight into what we like and what our abilities are. Without this insight our decisions for the future would be even more difficult. Even though teachers cannot make our decisions for us, they are an important key to every stu- dent's future. Credit must be given to the staff members who work hard to make the school day run smoothly for students. The custodial staff spends innumerable hours caring for the school grounds and buildings. Planning and preparing well-balanced meals for the students is a big task for the cafeteria staff. The various secretaries assist the students throughout the school day while the nurse always seems to be on hand if a student is ill. Without all of these people the school wouldn’t be the same. To the Seniors of 1987 uKasr by Lisa Bough We’re finally Seniors; it’s hard to believe. Graduation has come so quickly; it’s time for us to leave. We’ll leave behind us the teachers, the staff and some friends. Only to realize some we may never see again. We’ve been through a lot together, and we’ve had a lot of fun. But, tonight will be the last time the Class of '87 will stand as one. Though some may cry a tear or two; we can all hold our heads high. Just because we re moving on doesn’t mean we’re saying good-bye. Seniors Knowledge Builds the Bridge ...
