i¥ Elass History » We the class of Nineteen Eundred and Seventy-seven, do hereby attempt to explain the strange circumstances surrounding the existence and final rraduation of our class. Oddly enough, we came into the world as a class in the usual way, beginning in kindergarten, or for some first grade, and staying together to begin our high school career as Freshman. Our illustrious Freshman year was very encouraging. It was that 197) school year we took on two teachers as sponsors: Miss Hazel Pielemeier and Mr. John Knepo. That fine year we haa won the basketball sectional five years in a row, and with all the big mouths in our class we did our share of yelling. It was in that year we were officially aeemed the class of 77 , When we became Sophomores in. 1975, we took on new responsibilities such as the coat check at the basketball games, and selling candy bars. ie also hac a chili supper, which turned out to be a great success. '75 was also the year that the Loogootee Lions were runners-up in the state basketball championship. The year that the members of our class could call ourselves Juniors, which was 1976, turned out to be quite an eventful year, including the fact that it was the 200th birth- day of our beloved country. The Juniors celetrated a very successful year. The long awaited class rings arrived that year, and everyone was busily exhibiting them. It was soon basketball season, and we were in charge of the concession stand, which can be a very hectic time. It was in May when the highlight of '76 came. The Junior class sponsored the Prom. It was held at the Officers Club on the Crane ilaval Base. It turned out to be very successful, and everyone had a good time. At last our Senior Year arrived. Our first task as Seniors was to order our class keys and announcements. This made the closeness of sraduvation a reality. It seemed like as soon as we got settled basketball season started, It started with the crowning of the Homecoming Queen. This was the beginning of another winning season for the Lions. Soon it was Cenior Night, and time to honor the eight senior baskettall players and student manager. Also at this time the senior class officers and student council members were recognized, After 12 long years of hard work and a lot of fun, the time came for the Class of 1977 to give their farei;ell to Loogootee High School. Graduation was held on Max 27, 1977. This;was our final moment as Seniors. Now we have only the memories of our high school days. At this time, we the Class of '77, would like to thank br. Lust, Mr. Page, all the members of the faculty, and especially our »arents for their time and patience in making this achievement possible.
