The prom theme was AROUND THE WORLD and music was furnished by the Variations. The King and Queen for the prom were Rex Sager and Nancy Lentz. Prince and Princess were Tony Smith and Sherry Parsons. Decorations emphasizing five areas were a large gondola, representing Venice; a windmill, representing Holland; the Eiffel tower, represent- ing France; palm trees, representing The South Pacific; and a large globe, representing the world. Refreshments were served from a grass hut in the South Pacific. A year that will be remembered over all years by everyone in this com- munity and surrounding area, as the 1969- 70 basketball team brought honors to our town that no one has ever managed to do before. JACK THE LION-TRAINER If the 1969-70 school year was truly the Year of the Lion ' then the number 13 signified a year of well- deserved credit and hard-earned glory for Lion Trainer, Jack Butcher. In his 13th season at LHS, Coach Butcher had his most thrilling season and post-season action as his Loogootee Lions took their place in the history of Fi- nal Four basketball teams. In April he was recognized state-wide when he was named Co-Coach of the year by the Indiana Association of Sportscasters and Sports- writers. Within those wins the Lions tied for first place in the Blue Chip Conference. The batting trophy was won this year by Randy Bright who got 13 hits for 33 times at bat. This gave him a high of .394. The B-team lions finished the season with a record of four wins and one loss.
