My first vision is Washington, D. C. in all of its inauguration gaiety. I can see all of the people talking about how great a job the planning committee has done. Who do you think planned it? Peggy Taylor and Sandra Carr. The crowd is silent now and Chief Justice, Melvin Harder, steps up to administer the oath to the new President.Tom Haste!! I It seems several of our old classmates are bopping around Washington, D. C. Abbie Arvin is head of the Peace Corps. With each passing day the nation draws nearer and nearer to war. In the House of Representa- tives it seems Janice Poling is really running the show. Representative Poling’s counterpart in the Senate is none other than her old buddy, Margie Souerdyke. Margie hold the filibuster record for the Senate. My crystal ball is now showing miles and miles of ocean. Land! Ho! In France Li Li Alcover is teaching L.H.S. English to the French. She says they are finding it difficult to master the terms, but think it is a real swingin’ lingo. On the dark continent we find Beverly Gregory and Phyllis Stallings; they are missionaries trying to convert the natives to their way of life. Maybe they were better off as cannibals. In Pakistan is one of the most up-to-date garages in the world. Miller's Garage, operated by none other than Carole Mauder. Her chief grease monkey is Kenny Seals. I see the Stars and Stripes flying over the good ole’ U.S.A. and now it is stopping in Holly- wood. Several of the Class of 1965 are here. Every time you turn on the radio, you can hear today's most swingin' group led by Dale Baker. They go under the name of Butadene Baker and his Five Isomers. Jim Chandler recently got an Academy Award for his performance in Sleeping Beauty. He played the Princess. Gary Cole M. C. 's a show called Slitn Time. Mike Craig finally got his life's dream when he made the Superman show, as Superman’s girl friend, Lois Lane. Phil Goodpaster is the class's only millionaire. He made his bank roll by creating the ani- mated cartoon Winnie the Pooh. Last month Mike Harbison was so bitter about being refused for pro basketball, he took an overdose of sleeping pills (or so he thought). They turned out to be vitamins and Mike now has his own team known as the Harby Globetrotters. Veda Jeffers is also in Hollywood. She owns the Beauty Shop to which all the stars go; Veda specializes in hair coloring. Donna Parsons is working in the Denver Mint. It seems to be a big secret as to which de- partment. My crystal ball found Larry Hotz in New York where he is making government workbooks off his old copy. Terry McKibben tried the Marine Corps for a while but got out quickly. He is now singing the lead in the opera Firefly. Barry Stuckey is now national director of the National Honor Society. Don Neukam owns his own factory and now is doing quite well making sponges; they're great for soaking” things up. Mike Bohlinger and Steve Page are st ill spending their noon hour in study hall waiting for the final e’cue. Besides sitting in study hall, Mike owns the Big Boy chain and still regrets the day they took the SAT test. Steve has a key factory specializing in Conference Room and Cafe- teria keys. 24 Ruth Simmons is now a very famous novelist. 1 certainly am glad she stopped writing pen- dantically. Darrell Swartzentruber is also writing these days....his own SAT tests! Roger Fox always tried to be first in everything. He carried that tradition to West Point. He was the first cadet ever to beg, on his knees, a General not to have a chemistry test. Terry LaMar is doing quite well. He owns the Playboy Club in Chicago and a sheep ranch in Montana. I can see a race track in my crystal ball now. It's the famed Indianapolis 500 and the cars are on their last lap. The winner is coming down the straight away. The official timer, Ernie Blank- enship, is waving the checkered flag. The winner is Martha Hoffman!!! You know, I can remem- ber when she practiced for this day around the streets of Loogootee. Now I see zinnias, hundreds of zinnias; why, it's Loogootee. Karen Fish and Jack Inman keep trying to get married, but everytime they get to the church, they have a fight. Abbie Fuhrman is in jail for resisting a policeman's son. Sharon Hoffman is the main sus- pect in a jewel robbery. It seems a valuable ruby disappeared and Sharon doesn't have an alibi. Eddie Fullerton and Joyce Walton both own trucks. Eddie's are milk trucks and Joyce's are pickups. Elsie Hembree is now the adult leader of Rural Youth. Cheryl Walton is now working at the Farm Bureau trying to pay for the scales. Keith Parsons is still looking for his Government Class Angel. C-H-E-R-Y-L. Terry Sutton is still making his trips to Alfordsville. Three of our classmates are local businessmen. Jim Hembree now owns Larkin Bros. Dept. Store. Steve Leighly bought Nippy's and changed the name to the Hustlers. Don Jackson bought Hindostan Falls and Road. He has made millions since he put in parking meters. Several of our classmates are affiliated with L.H.S. Becky Hanger and Karl Hoffman are still wandering around the halls. Nobody told them we graduated. Jim Stroud has just started his twelfth first semester of chemistry. Next year he is going to teach it. After the class trip, Kenny Woods took over the Math Dept. He is trying to teach Mr. Jones how to read graphs. Paulette Brandon is head of the P. E. Department. The only difference between her and Mrs. Stott, is that Paulette wears skirts. Our class secretary, Beth Smith, is in Madison Mental Institution. Just as the class boarded the bus for Washington, D. C., she cracked. She just couldn't believe the toothbrushes were sold and we had raised our $3, 000. Our dear sponsors, Mrs. Jones ami Mr. Clark, are still wandering around Washington, D.C. where we left them before traveling on to New York City. In New York my crystal ball gets hazy, but I vaguely remember a good time. Out of the haze comes something green; it's rectangular: it’s a Government workbook. Mr. Jones always said there was one still out. 25 By: Jeanne Baker tSenior (£la Will I, Eliane Alcover, bequeath my French accent to Susan Street. Jeanne Baker added to the honors of the senior class by being named Betty Crocker Homemaker of Tomorrow, and represented our school in two speech contests. Sharon Hoffman was the proud recipient of the D.A.R. Good Citizenship Award. Roger Fox, another out- standing senior, received word of his nomination to West Point. They were: Dale Baker, Jeanne Baker, Sharon Hoffman, Martha Hoffman, Beth Smith, Paulette Brandon, Joyce Walton, Cheryl Walton, Kenny Woods, and Jim Hembree. Tom Haste was also a member of the basketball team in his senior year. The seniors are looking forward to the remainder of their last orbit which will include a class play, a dance, and numerous other money-raising projects for their class trip to Washington D.C. and New York City. On May 21, 1965, our four-year stage rocket will return to earth for the L.H.S. Commence- ment Exercise. We will be reluctant to leave and go our separate ways for the past four years have been filled with joy, sorrow, knowledge, lasting friendships and the hope of promising fu- tures. We wish to thank our teachers, friends, and above all, our parents for everything they have done for us. We, the Class of 1965 hope to live up to our motto: With the ropes of the past, we'll ring the bells of the future , so as to make everyone proud of us. 27 Sue McCrary Ronnie Edu ards Larrx Wildman Bonnie Truelove Pixie Strickland Dianna Summers Lynda Moore i David Sanders Rotmie Mehne U Linda Taylor Sidsan Street James Wade Clarence Gilliam Wilma Rinsch Ronnie Goller Mike Thompson Mickie Coget Linda Bledsoe 29 Monica Moffitt Joe Livers Bobbie McCord Wayne Cox Charles Conover Vonda Parsons Donald Stoll Linda Neukam Cheryl Strange Bryan Gregory Gregg Fish K c . £ Margaret Cox Cheryl True love Dave Bruner Donna Littrell Ronnie Steele Nancy Arvin Joann Ne id effer John Milligan 30 Laura Lee Crane Frank Brothers Dianne McKibben Marty Drew Eileen Weitkamp Ronnie Bledsoe Mildred Hembree Charles Parish Delores Waggoner Lonnie Survance ■John Inman Grace Hollaway Mary Hembree Randy Kaiser Brad Gregory Rose McGuire Gerald Strange Lorene Swartzentruber Donald Gowins ei cfyiAtory As freshmen, we entered L.H.S. with seventy - one members, the largest class in the school. The seniors of '65 would like to congratulate Mr. Butcher and his Lions for their fine teamwork. They have given us many enjoyable games which shall never be forgotten.
