SENIOR CLASS HISTORY We, the class of '61, with fifty-four students, entered Loogootee High School in the fall of 1957. Mr. Purcell was chosen to be our class sponsor. Under his guidance we sponsored a sock-hop. We also enjoyed a party at the American Legion Home and a class outing at Spring Mill State Park. The class officers were: President...... Vice-President Secretary...... Treasurer...... Denny Phillips . .James Krodel . Patty Barber . Jo Ann Harris Only forty-seven of us returned for our sophomore year. During this year we sponsored a sock-hop and sold magazine subscriptions. The class officers were: President........................James Krodel Vice-President................. Denny Phillips Secretary .....................Joe Montgomery Treasurer......................Danny Thomas In the fall of '59, thirty-eight of us returned for our junior year. Our class rings were received and the year closed successfully with a Junior-Senior Banquet and Prom, which was given with the guidance and help of Miss Crooke and our class sponsor, Mr. Purcell. During the year a sock-hop , a chili supper, and a bake sale were held. The class officers were: President........................James Krodel Vice-President...................Sharon Jones Secretary........................Mary Lou Cox Treasurer........................Ruth Goode Denny Phillips At last, we have reached our final year. In the fall of 1960, forty of us returned as seniors. We had several moneymaking projects, which included sponsoring several candy sales, a spaghetti and meatball supper, Christmas cards, a movie, and others not mentioned. Now as the year closes, we are looking forward to our class trip and the banquet and prom. We will long remember our high school days, our baccalaureate and commencement and our class sponsor Mr. Purcell. The class officers were: President...... Vice-President Secretary......
