SENIOR CLASS PROPHECY In the spring of 1970 I began research for my new book,’’Classmates Courageous ” My first stop was Loogootee where I met my former classmate, Donna Chandler, now the town gossip. Donna told me all about our former classmates. John Bledsoe is still in Loogootee working for the B. and O. Railroad; he is official flag waver. His wife, Beverly Arvin, writes a Lonely Hearts column for the local newspaper, owned by Lynda Abel. Ronnie Trambaugh and David Peek own and operate the local pool hall. Their most frequent customer is Marjorie Truelove, the only female pool shark in town. In the back room of the pool hall Dona Wahl runs her own little roulette game. Beth Arvin, her husband, and their blue Olds, live in Odon in a little blue house. Rumor has it that they aren’t getting along too well; they are both feeling pretty blue. Barbara Duncan lives in Odon too; she and her sisters operate the Duncan Dip and Dry Cleaners there. Aleva Dove is in the hills of Tennessee trying to perfect her formula for a new hair restorer. (We told her not to use that laundry bleach on her hair.) Old Don Jackson is in Tennessee too; he is running a still on the other side of the hill. Don Wagner and Ralph Goodpaster have formed the Burns City Coon Hunter’s Club. Ralph is president of the club so he no longer has to climb trees to get his coons. Donna Crane is in Reno getting her sixth divorce now; it seems she falls for every Tom, Dick, and Roger she meets. Her first husband, Bill Wright, is now her divorce lawyer; he knows a good thing when he sees it. Johnny Medina is president of the Pinsetters Union. (He always did have the head for that sort of thing.) Dean Walton is now in Alaska where he runs Dean’s Double Deal Dance Hall. His famed chorus line consists of ”Susu” Inman, Marilyn ”Mimi” Wade, ’’Dimples” David- son, ’’Dolly” DeWees, Bubbles” Braun, and ’’Red Feathers” Williams. Wilma Seals and Shelba Simmons are in Alaska too. They operate a finishing school for Eskimo girls. Jerry and David Smith are now in the cough drop business. Business is rather slow so they have hired Larry Brown as Sales Promotion Manager. Larry spends his days spreading germs throughout the land. Truman Hedrick is running for President on the Prohibition ticket. (Hie first name must have gone to his head.) Truman’s campaign manager, Larry Mason, is busy dis- tributing Tippecanoe and Truman too” posters. His opponnet is Bill Nigg. Bill’s man ager, Dave Harris, is passing out We dig Nigg” buttons. Pam Strickland and Janet and Janice Kiefer, professionally known as the Singsong Trio are making a new record, Three Walls”. Dot Mattingly is an entertainer too. She danced professionally under the name Minuet” Mattingly. Tony” Carrico and Selena” Sargent are starring in MGM's latest production, Nearness”.
